I'd be interested to see one of these, sounds like a useful thing to have... do you have a link?

Okay so the creak in my Anthem is driving my nuts. But it seemed like it's coming from the rear wheel. I've read through all of the advice that was given here and the thing that makes the most sense is to grease the skewer. Would anyone be so kind as to tell me how much grease? Do I just great the whole thing?

if the skewer greasing doesn't work, check your seat post and seat rails. Clean, lube (just enough to provide a protective layer and keep dirt off the metal/plastic bits) and replace - works for me every time...

just a small amount can almost just be a bit more than a shiny layer.

Confuses me the amount of grease on everything on a new Giant also...

Just get waterproof stuff then it does not wash off everytime you clean the bike. Marine grease is great in this regard - some hardware shops have it and some boat places should have it.

Also some copper grease on those pivot bolts... helps the anti-seize and creaking.

Hope that helps.

Might be totally unrelated, but I took my 2013 Giant Anthem Advanced to the bike shop yesterday for a check-up before Sabie (heard a slight grinding noise when pedalling).    When they took the bottom bracket out the BB cups were loose and fell out of the BB (probably the cause of my issues).

Bike now on its way to Cape Town for warranty and I am sitting in the office in stead of being in Sabie this weekend.  :cursing:

Can anyone help. I have a 2012 Anthem X1 29er with a SHRAM X9 2x 10 crank set. The bike has developed a very irritating and constant creak / tick sound on every revolution of the right crank arm just as it gets between 15 and 20 past (on an analogy clock for visualization purposes). I have stripped the bike down, tightened bolds on the chain ring’s, cleaned all pivot bearing points and made sure they are lubed. In conjunction with my LBS we have changed pedals, shocks, crank sets and fitted a new chain. The bike even went back to Dragon Sports, but low and behold a week later the noise was back. It seems to disappear for a while when I ride in the wet, but then comes back after a couple of hours of dry riding and is particularly worse on the small chain ring.

Hope someone can advise as it is driving me and whoever rides next to me mad

check that handlebars and stem are tightened

It's also worth removing the Hanger and putting a bit of grease between it and the frame, this was the source of my noise.

You're commenting on a post from August 2013...  By now I'd hope that he's sorted something out!

saw that now - sorry, got my chronology a bit mixed up.

a riding mate has a scott that squeaks - drives everyone bananas but he just laughs about it.

he took it to the LBS, which disassembled and reassembled the whole bike + grease etc.

Nett result: it stopped squeaking for about a week.
