Yup, looks like a cross wind all the way.

 

Folks in the fast bunches will be pushing to stay in the front so they don't get guttered. And in those conditions, expect the medics to have a busy day.

 

Looking forward to an awesome day on the bike! Just the opportunity to ride down Fields hill with not a truck or car in sight is in itself worth the full entry fee .

A very sudden infection the past few days banked my long-awaited and much-anticipated Amashova trip. I'm super disappointed...

Another friend and his gf that is staying with us is taking us to the start. Four of us riding and he has a trailer with space for four bikes. Then his gf is going to drive the vehicle back. Probably ride back to Umhlanga after the race.

 

Where in Umhlanga are you staying?

Got taught a proper lesson in VA today. And then by VB.... Shova is not a downhill race.

It was a tough race. At about the 60km mark, there was a 20 man breakaway in the A group. By the time I noticed, they already had a 40m lead. Pedaled my butt off to bridge the gap, but without success. When i checked behind me, there were 3 of us in no-man's land. We worked together for the next 30km, only to be swallowed up by a 30 man group, with just over 10km to go. Didn't have a lot left in the tank for the final sprint, and finished in the middle of the group in 2:47. I was gunning for 2:45, but considering the headwind for most of the race, i probablyshouldn't complain.

Agree it was a tough race and the wind did not help. I caught a 4 man train that helped me rhe last 40km. Cant believe elites was 2.18!!!!
