Fear mongering. There seems to be more stories about "brand" bikes failing in the "Broken Chinese Carbon" thread than actual Chinese frames.

"tend to fail", pffft.

I will say one thing, you are starting to sound like the chap who bought himself a GWM and purely because he dropped the cash on it, he feels it's equal to a Landrover.

But let's stick to the topic, fakes and counterfeit products.

I mean, why would someone buy chinese and try and make it look like a Specialized or Cannondale or anything as such for that matter.

This is about fakes, not things that break per se.

It's pure coincidence that the chines products tend to fail and also end up being a big part of the counterfeit procedure.

So read again.

Fakes and counterfeit products, the two links I posted will lead you there.

This could go a long way in helping people not to lose money like the unfortunate hubber the other day.

We went the ching chong route for my sons last 29er HT.Copy of Volcan(or unbranded)

Did not last very long.rear triangle twisted at the BB so wheel rubbed against stay

Replaced it with a Niner.Problems solved

Would not touch them again

Methinks you lot protest too much.

This thread has merit as a forum to warn and inform.

By all means buy what you like but not everyone has to drink the Koolaid.

Fake branding is fraud and theft and leaves no recourse if you do get hurt because the safety protocols promised on the internet haven't been adhered to.

Not cycling related but I am a farmer and bought a fake honda water pump for half the price. Two days later the piston melted and when I enquired about warranty they said sure: just post the faulty pump to china at your cost and we will fix it!

This thread is not about chinese carbon. Its about people buying these bikes/wheels etc slapping specialized or Pina stickers on and trying to sell it as the original product for the price of an original and not a chinese carbon. This is not the place to battle chinese carbon and originals. It is purely to warn people about fake products. Am I right in saying that Wyatt

Lets not get sidetracked, this thread is about identifying fake goods, a damn useful exercise in my opinion. Not about Chinese bashing or breakages. With so many brands of carbon wheels (and other stuff) out there and greater sophistication by the manufacturers of fakes, its good to have a resource where we can find info that can help us ID fakes.

Oh and my opinion on selling x brand as a spez....fraud, plain and simple

But it's only fraud if you are trying to sell it on as a Spez, in your example.

If you for example order it sprayed in Spez colours for your own use is it still fraud?

Like stickering wheels with ENVE, or Roval logos. Is that fraud if its for personal use? Obviously different story if you then sell your bike with "ENVE" rims.

I can't see myself ever buying a "fake" bicycle or any equipment for that matter but certain stuff like clothing I don't mind. I've bought some kits from cycling-jersey and the quality is pretty decent. Bikes are a definite no-no for me.
