Will the 23km be suitable for Children? I'm keen on doing the 56km on the Sunday and since it includes an entry for the 23km on the Saturday I was thinking of maybe taking my son (8) and do the 23km with him. We have done a 16km race in Hekpoort a couple of months ago (total of about 250m vertical climbing).

I do the crater cruise every year.My daughter did the 23Km last year with very little riding done.Not to demanding and easly obtainable.I make it a MTB weekend in Parys and do the 106Km on Saturday and the 56Km on sunday.Stay at Smilin thru Holiday resort just about 10Km outside Parys.Quiet Cheap,self catering.Lots of Braai's Beer and quite a load of Mountain Bikers making for a good vibe all round.

Hi Tim.

Noted on the website that the half marathon has gone from 56km to 40km.

Any particular reason for this?

I was pretty worried about this one last year. This year I recon if I manage to survive 3 Towers it should be a nice ride. Still in 2 minds if I am going to ride it or not.

@Tim_Fair

Why has the half marathon been shortened to 40km from the regular 56km?

@martinsnyman

Cut-offs
:
  • At Suikerbossie - 10h30
  • At USN halfway mark - 11h55 (all riders must start before 12h00 at halfway mark)
  • At German church refreshment station - 13h30
  • At Outlaws Bar - 15h00
  • At Finish - 16h30

Edit: copied info from website and messed up the format

Because I am doing the long one on Saturday and 56 km would have been too far for me as my first SS race on the Sunday. 40km is perfect. :w00t:

So is there only a half marathon (40km) and a ultra marathon (103km)?? The entry fees on the website refer to a marathon as well but no info on a marathon...
