For R2000.000.....

Thats a bargain. Very nice.

Do they do a 3 bike carrier?

Not tow bar mounted that can be tilted .... well not that I could find on the site at least.

Took a bike and fitted it to the rack in store, shoved the rack around and overall think that the construction is more than decent.

What I personally will do though is fit a rubber band or velcro strap around the red spring loaded clip that releases the main body of the rack allowing it to tilt .... in the back of my mind this could lead to am epic fail on a bumpy road and the clip some how disengages. The spring is forcing the pin in at all times, but I recon rather safe than sorry.

Also not sure how the rack will fair in time with respect to corrosion, but then again for my personal usage it would be stored in a garage other than when in transit.

All in all a decent rack for the ZAR.

Recently got the Euroway platform. Was expensive but well worth it. Will still cost me a couple of thousand to repair/respray back of the car due to damage caused by suspending the bikes.

Does anybody have a platform rack fitted to an SUV with the spare wheel at the back? Any comments suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi guys,

At last my new tjor has a towbar and I no longer need to chuck my bikes in my little Corsa's boot- now i'm shopping for a bike rack.

I see a lot of guys opting for the platform type rather than the suspension type, why is that? I have a Tiguan, so ground clearance is not that bad- but taking into account the type of terrains to and from MTB races- wouldn't the suspended (hanging) type be a better option?

Any advice is welcome.

I have had really bad experiences with Thule platform rack - Euroway G2 specifically. For me the biggest problem is the amount of torque required when clamping the top tube, especially on a carbon frame.

I have lost a carbon handlebar due to the clamp slowly twisting due to the road vibration on a recent trip to Hilton, the wheels were still held by the straps, so the bike literally just fell over and the road surface removed about 3cm of the handlebar in a couple of hundred meters. Similar thing happened with the exact same rack to two guys that I know.

I now use the Thule top suspended type one, much cheaper also.

O, and I drive the same car as you do - ground clearance with a 29" bike is not a problem, not even on rough dirt roads.

Ok, so I went with the BuzzRunner 2. Much more affordable than Thule, excellent reviews on the 'net. Locks rack to tow bar and bikes to rack. Folds easily for storage when not in use. Tilt function has little "clamps" to prevent any possible "accidental" tilting. Will give it it's maiden voyage this weekend.

Of course I'm now faced with a "double step" to get off the property... Car with rack is too long for my courtyard so will have to open gate before attaching bike rack and loading bikes :-P Luckilly fitting rack is insanely quick and easy.

only assembled my menabo last night. quite a mission but it works perfectly on my jimny, without the need for any extensions.

will be road testing the unit the weekend

Can anyone recommend a towbar fitment centre in Cape Town? I have a Polo (new shape), but really don't want to spend R3000 just for the towbar... will only use it for bike rack ever really.

I also had to make that choice now when I bought my Polo and decided that there is only about R500 difference between a factory fit vs other decent tow bars, so I bit the bullet as it looks better with the factory fitted one ... well I will be able to tell you more tonight when I pick up the car that is

I should have just done the same... dammit!

Took my buzz rack for inaugural trip today. Managed to damage one of the ratchet fasteners though! Was leaning over trying to figure out how to loosen it and managed to snap it! :-O Hope the retailer can make a plan to sort it out for me (can only go pop in there next weekend)

Have you tested the rack yet? Seems like very good value for money!

Please post some comments.

And just to make sure- it fits right onto the tow bar ball, no need for funny attachments?

Platform for sure, go have a look at Makro, I bought a BnB platform rack for two bikes, they have two models - one for R 1699 and on for R 1999. Awesome quality, very happy with mine.
