In June I did my 1st 50 KM MTB with the USN race and ended up on being 51.9km. Saturday im doing my 1st 60, well its actually 66km.

Any advice? Or just do as I did with the USN 50?

PS I finished the USN 50 in 2:59:35

The distances indicated seem to generally be indicative when referring to 50, 60, 70, 80km, etc. If advertised as a 73.5km race, you would probably end up riding something very close to that distance.

66Km is close to a normal Marathon MTB race, but its all relative to the race its self. All depends on type of terrain and profiles the race offers. I usually think time wise. Fast race for me +/-3Hrs and say Tough race +/- 4Hrs

Just pace yourself from the start. Don't start to fast and burn yourself out 10-15km before the end. Rather start slow and finish strong.

I for one never do a race longer than my training rides. If I want to do marathon races 70-75km my training rides will all be 80km+. That way I make sure that my legs are used to the distance and I know before the race if I am fit enough.

Enjoy!
