Guest Michelle Posted August 28, 2006 Share Sonic: Thanks, we had a great time The birthday boy was spoilt rotten! (although Jason says he's the one that spoilt me ) Now for my race report... It was fricken cold & windy so I tried to stay in the car with the seat heater on for as long as possible. I saw Stiffy wandering around looking half asleep in his pyjamas (& we were expecting a win from you!! That Bibo race just wasn't the same without you) Decided to run around to try & warm up (saw 101% - I think he follows us around or something ) Got on the trainer to do my warm up when Sonic joined me for a chat (Definitely helped the time pass quick! ) We made our way over to the start pens when I heard "Michelle Michelle Michelle" Turned around & met Chilli Pepper!! Grapkas went flying past us on her way to the start & from that point on I only saw the back of her (and then not for that long either!!) The race started out pretty easy, a bit of acceleration at the first hot spot but nothing too hectic. I thought yeah, I'm gonna hang in all the way.. suuuure. Second corner I had to chase to get back into the group... it really hurt.. then the next thing they neutralise the race to allow the A-bunch to pass, all that energy wasted for nothing Then came the second hot spot & I got dropped like a hot potato Chilli Pepper decided to drop back & keep me company Thanks Chilli.. it was most appreciated!! After the next turn we were lucky enough to join Snapshot & a couple of tandems that made the wind a little more bareable. Although Chilli was not at all shy to do some work up-front!! The next turn & the ladies decided to leave the tandems behind, unfortunately we were met with a horrible crosswind & I was left on my own just before the top of the drag... once over they left me for dead I spent the remainder of the race on my own, getting blown all over the road... a couple of the A & B-group riders made their way past me almost clipping my front wheel on a number of occasions I don't know what their problem is.. are they pulling a "hey look at me" or what? I saw one of them knock a tandems handlebar much to the disgust of the lady on the back who started swearing at him I saw Cruxie & Man with no Name @ the final turn & knew it was almost home time... YIPPEE!A couple of km's & I spotted Jason... cruising around taking photos, looking all fresh & relaxed It looked like he'd spent the day at the Valley of Waves I finally made it to the finish & met up with Amoryn & Snapshot, my soon-to-be fellow team-mates Well done to both of you Chilli: Great ride for your first time! You made it look easy It was great relaxing with the TCS'ers afterwards (IanJ, Sonic, KayC, Gearjammer, Man with no name (why weren't you riding?), Epoh - I must have missed Beee), although I felt quite left out in my Club 100 jersey... don't worry guys, one more race & it's gone!
