I was trail running this morning in groenkloof this morning.

Came across the game rangers busy moving the 2 giraffes.

Asked the one game ranger and the last one to be loaded was the one that attacked the cyclists not to long ago.

They moving them due to capacity in reserve, rather keep the young ones.

They also getting new bloodline in.

They are being moved to a game reserve in Warmbaths.

The video is of the final loading part. Amazing how strong they are.

I asked them about the tranquilising, they do dart them from the helicopter, and then they get to them, put ropes around with head covers, and then they wake them up, as they dont have a great tollerance to the drug.

This all happened in a space of around 5-10min, from dart to wake up.

I got there after 1st one was loaded, and the one vet said they were there since 06:30, i got there around 07:30.

don't believe everything a ranger tells you, they are trained to tell you what you want, or rather need to hear at times. I am pretty sure relocation is due to the incident with the two guys in that video, in almost every case where an animal is being moved is due to an incident with humans. It is really sad that we are on "their turf" yet they are the ones that end up with the *** deal? Hopefully they are going to a game reserve in Warmbaths, there are a few up in the area, so one only hopes.

New bloodline - er ok, if you say so......

I saw the video and to me it looked more like an inquisitive giraffe following two goons around. The damage to the bike caused when one dropped it and the giraffe stepped on it in error rather than intent.
