Ashleigh looks completely exhausted.

She needs a team around her, dedicated to getting her to the line in a decent position.

She can't do it on her own.

Oh no!! She looked really strong throughout, but then could not stay with Vos when it counted. I was so hoping for a medal for her.

I think it will come.

She is at another level in the European peleton, compared to where she used to be.

She is as good as anyone in Europe.

Weather forecast not looking to good with predications of thunder storms and rain in the afternoon. Might favour the riders with more meat on the bone and good bike handling skills...Sagan, Cancellera and Gilbert...ok Gilbert is a bit skinny but he is from Belguim and knows how to race in the wet...

This has the makings of a truly epic world road champs, such a testing course in the wet, 272km and a wide range of favourites! I predict that whoever wins today, will be truly deserving of the rainbow jersey!

And the Ruskies are out, victims of bike theft

"Police at work... Stolen ALL the bikes last night. No start tomorrow," Kolobnev, a silver medallist at the world championships road race in 2007 and 2009, wrote on his Twitter feed"
