Was my first K2Coast had the flu a week before and was warned about it. I started of great, the walking up ou wapad not helping then got momentum, but had to abort on 57 km's and took the Ambulance to Knysna and Mosselbay life Clinic with dropped heart rate and chest pain. Thankfully doing better.... Just sad to find out that when my bike was picked up, my Garmin Edge 810 missing. Really hoping that someone honest will return it..... If all goes well I will be back next year fitter and stronger!

I'd just be happy that you can still worry about the Garmin...

Next year mate, next year.

Yes very true.... Sunday with all the stress and hype only praying to survive, but now Tuesday, and ready to start thinking about getting back on my steed. Must say if it wasn't for the Garmin and a heart rate monitor, probably would have killed myself

Never buy a sub entry again, bought a sub entry, and friends did the sub for us on sat. Got told we are riding the numbers that we bought, so we started in the last group , and had to walk up ou wa pad, really frustrating, with people stopping and taking off jackets etc. tried to put the hammer down for the rest of the race , and came in just under 5hrs. Wanted a 4:30 but i keep telling myself it is because of the walk up ou wa pad.lol Also so a specialized craze oke who threw empty gu papers in the bush , i asked him wtf dude?? And got told who said he may not do it??? Nr 5456!!!

Number 84 did the same in the forest section and told me "what is your problem, it is only foil" I asked him if he is not proud of his country only to be told to f&&&& off!

Started in the 2nd group. Had a brilliant ride until about 70km where my ITB all of a sudden gaved in. Was under trained especially with the speed I started of with, but was my first one and enjoyed the downhills alot!! Managed a 4:45

Done 50km races that was harder than this race but will do it again. Had a great overall weekend.

O yes. greatest part of the weekend was to do a lap of Harkerville Red Route on Monday. Although we rode slowly on the inclines we went all out on the downhills. What a treat

I didnt do it....but I think Mailman1974 deserves HUGE kudos... came in 2nd last in 2012 and did a 6:27 this year! think thats awesome....

Boring to some and a huge triumph to others. I love stories like these.

My first K2C also, started cycling in December 2012 when I bought my first bike, really wanted to do a time of 5hrs, but only managed a 5:50h, started cramping badly 70km's into the race and had to get of the bike multiple times even on downhills, luckily I managed to pull through, didn't pushed my bike once (very happy about that)

But I must say, very bad manners from some racers, firstly if you cycle do so on the left side and overtake on the right side, this makes it difficult if your trying to overtake and 3 guys are chatting to each other cycling next to each other. I don't know where some of these racers come from but jees they have bad manners, heard a couple of guys shouting "stay f@*!g right" to ladies, I mean why not just said "keep left passing right"?

I don't know if there was racepacks at registration but when we were there around 18:00 on Saturday we were told that the racepacks were finished already (I think if I was reading correctly this happened the previous year also), I purchased a shirt and had to go to info after I registered so that they can write my name on a piece of paper with my race number and shirt size, just to go stand again in the row to get my shirt, then saw other guys writing there names and shirt sizes on a piece of paper that didn't pay for there shirts and laughing about it later on (Badly organized in that respect)

My cycling buddy had to pull out after 45km's after his knee also gave in.

Will do the next one again and make sure im earlier at registration this time.

I managed to pick up an entry to sub on Friday. Drove through on Saturday morning and the race did not disappoint. I did not train for the event and was worried about the distance, have never ridden so far on my mtb and only my third race, however managed to pull off a 4:50. I guess I was also lucky that I picked up an a batch sub so missed out on the traffic havoc on the back end. The race will definitely see me again next year. It is a nice fast route to put our speed to the test. :)

Hi Rydogg

Only 2600 finishers with a time. Some people don't bother to buy or wear a racetec chip and then do not get timed. The rest just did not finish. The organisers don't force you to wear the chip.

Hi Jobritz

Happy to hear that you'r fine! I will ask a friend who is one of the organisers to find out about your Garmin. Our company's truck was used as sweep vehicle. If I hear anything I will contact you on the HUb.
