madmarc Posted October 15, 2013 Share maybe just ask the guy with the broken collar bone day 3, looked plenty technical for me and him too. I see u could of dropped of the escarpment if u really wanted too! all u hard ppl coming out here and complaining that a couple of rocks had been move need to keep im mind that the race organizer is trying to get 1000+ ppl home safe aswell. if you want a clear run get into A or B batch. by the way any one else have their tent blow away? Oh! I forgot to mention that, if the organizers can't sort the wind problem out then i'm never going to do this event again. they can't expect riders to pay that sort of money and drive that sort of distance and then still have to contend with high winds. It's a disgrace!!!! VicanZA, Wallee and Ratty

Ramrod Posted October 15, 2013 Share It's just a theory but here goes: Sponsor pressure.A good general rule of thumb is to pick your events based on the title sponsor.Good: unsponsored, producers of off-road vehicles, high octane energy drinks, specialist mtb components.Bad: providers of financial services tailored to extraordinarily high net worth individuals.Farmer Gary, put the rocks back and get a new sponsor ;-) Edited October 15, 2013 by specializedfan

davetapson Posted October 15, 2013 Share Dunno what you guys are whinging about. I had one of the longest races of all, enjoyed every second. This is one of the few races where 10km from the end of each stage I got the 'Sunday evening before going back to boarding school' feeling - disappointment that the stage was coming to an end... The tracks not technical enough for you? Ride faster. The tracks too technical? Ride slower. Oh, and get off the riding line when you are walking, goddammit!!Edit: (Particularly on Mike's Pass. I'm not saying I would have made the final bit, but I might have, and I'd like to have tried... ) Edited October 15, 2013 by davetapson ichops, Nimby, Fireface and 2 others

beanz Posted October 15, 2013 Share  Ok, I'm not being fair, a bit tongue in cheek really, I think Fedgroup are a great sponsor and do a great job for mountain biking in general, and the Fedgroup okes themselves love mountain biking and enjoy riding the event themselves. VicanZA Posted October 15, 2013 Share Fedgroup could of marketed themselves better at the event as I'm sure they paid big money for that right.
Greg29 Posted October 15, 2013 Share Anyone know what happened with the BMC bike draw? Was it done? Haven't had a call telling me I've won. VicanZA

beanz Posted October 15, 2013 Share Do you know them? Not like well, but I have met one of the brothers, and seen them around quite a bit. Also last year they were much move visible, and came up and chatted at the presentation. I was really surprised how low profile all the sponsors were in general this year. It also seemed like they for some reason toned down the competitive element of the event. Last year the days category winners came up on stage and received their jerseys. This year there was none of that. No mention whatever on Friday night and a very brief mention on Saturday.
