I ordered a red RaceFace narrow wide 32t from BuyCycle to try out on my hardtail, only the box arrived without the chainring (but with other items I ordered).

Turns out they made a mistake and didn't order it, and now the supplier is out of stock :(

Does anyone know anywhere that has any in stock?

That sucks dude, hope you find one

Ok so I took le MonsterCross out for a skelm ride last night (don't tell my doctor!). I ramped some pavements, rolled some rocky stuff, traipsed along some dirt paths etc and not a single dropped chain. This on an oooold long cage 9spd XTR RD with no cam - not even a shadow RD!

I did make the chain shorter than I normally do though - I took out links until the bottom of the RD was at about 45 degrees forward on the 36-36.

Note - you don't need shorter chain bolts if you're going from a 2x10 crank to single - the bolts are already short.

Sorry about the pic quality - spur of the moment with a BBerry...

Did your bird join you for the ride?

Must say that the all black crank goes nicely with the chainring

Nah - he's just the quality inspector. All he ever says is "Hulk Smaaaaaaaaaaaash" - I hope it's not his opinion of my wrenching work.

The 36 deffo looks good with 29 er wheels - dont go any smaller in the front. Beware of bumpy trails - I managed to throw a chain with the clutch off. Repeat bumps in quick succession seem to be the problem...

I am still amazed at how good the 1x10 set up is and how we have ridden 3 rings for so long not knowing there is a better way. I am setting fastest time on climbs despite the less favourable gearing...If you haven't done it make sure you do.

This is probably gonna start a 50 page handbag slugfest but you're posting better times because you're riding harder not because you dtiched 2 rings.

No reason you can't ride exactly the same time at the same effort with the same ratios on a 2x10 or 3x10...
