SA Enduro series - race #2

An individual has taken the initiative to get the Enduro scene happening in KZN, with his 1st event costing him a lot of cash. He's not formally involved in the MTB scene and has a day job like you or I but want to see this particular racing format grow in SA. The big idea is to have a national series, but you have to start somewhere and he happens to live in PMB... Yes the name may be over ambitious, but KZN MTB now recognizes enduro as a racing format and has added an Enduro category to the committee, due to the individual pushing the format.

I don't see the harm in thinking big.

Full respect to the organiser ... just the "SA" part that rubs me up the wrong way

Pretty sure Mr Minn does... he's from PMB... .

He does not count .... too smooth to be a real KZN rider, he must have parents from CT!

To anyone that's ridden this course. Do you guys reckon a full face is needed or is that a bit too much? I've been to Cascades and it's NOT the Spruit. Did Mankele sans one and it was fine, but not sure how the trails are going to be for the 27th.

I haven't ridden at cascades but from what I saw at worlds I reckon there are a lot less rocks than mankele.

But yeah... this is the 1st year that this is running, and already Mr Sid's events have attracted a lot of attention. I'm sure they will only grow from here. I'm sure his intention is to make it a national series.

 

As for the name itself... I think part of it was staking a claim. Register the name before someone else does. And besides, I can think of atleast 3 provinces represented at some of his events, maybe even more. He's doing a good thing!

 

If you really want to get rubbed the wrong way, look at the organizers of Miss Universe! I have never seen an extra terrestrial entrant in that event. Quite dissapointing really!

You'll only really want one when you fall.

If full faces weren't so hot and cumbersome it would be my preference, but I think I'll go the normal open face route.
