rouxtjie Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 I agree on the Cannondale frames. Top quality. Only problem.... not been sold as a stand alone frame, only complete bikes. My current take is that the companies think that cyclists would rather pay the same amount of money for a cheap carbon frame, than a high end aluminium frame. Steel Carbon is the new trend....I repeat....Niner EMD...its light, its pimp, awesome geo, strong as russia PS fixed your post quintonb, Hairy and shaper 3
Christie Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Imo alu and steel are superb materials for bike frames. The carbon craze is feuled by the industry to sell more stuff. There is no reason why non pro riders should think of carbon as the best material for them - mtbs have got fat tyres and suspension that eats a lot of vibration before it reaches the frame. Also, there are carbon frames that weigh the same as good alu frames, and ride just as hard, but cost much more. I cant see the sense in spending money on those. But the noise from the marketers are so loud that 90%+ have bought into. I like the Niners, I think my next bike will be a SIR or ROS. I also like Ellsworth, but I dont think they make alu hardtails anymore.

JanJan Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 The OP's question shouldn't be: "Which high end alu frame?"but rather : "Tamale Red or Licorice Black?" Kevin07, rouxtjie and Morwa 3
