Hope hubs are nothing special. They're just as prone to failure as Novatec. Had a few sets, none were as fantastic as the fanboys make them out to be.

Best hubs I've used:

Shimano XTR

Chrisk King ISO Disc

DT Swiss 240S

News for you all those brands have failures as well no brand is perfect not even Chris King,Shimano or DT Swiss, bearings are very unpredictable so anything can happen.

Bearings unpredictable? Only in Hope hubs ya. In everything else they seem to last the required hours if fitted correctly and adjusted correctly. The thing I hate about Hope hubs is how tight the freehub is and they don't spin very freely..

But they sure are shiiiiiiney and pruuuuurdy

DT Swiss Cheese, better than Hope? Hahahaha! 3 sets and many years later, still buzzing beautifully.

with 3 sets no one probably see enough hours to make any sort of judgement call on longevity.

DT Swiss 240 S. 6 years, same bearings, 12000km.

XTR: @ cape EPics and the training to go with it. logged over 24000 km on them before retirement.

Hopes: 3months 3 sets of bearings. (Set 1)

PRO2: 4months, 2 sets of bearings. Sold the crap. Oh yeah they so easy to service but the wheels are for riding not tinkering

You clearly not the fan boy but the hater boy,it comes down to how you look after your equipment as well.I am speaking now from my trade and see it all the time where bearings fail and the person will say oh that brand of unit is crap and I will tell him all brands have failures even the supposed best ones, but if you don't do preventative maintenance nothing will last. Don't assume what you hear from people about brands being the best or worst is always the truth, things designed and built by HUMANS fail.

why state the obvious.

Some human bult things are more prone to failure than others it appears

So why do you think the other brands you named are faultless, just because you had bad luck with Hope does not mean they are crap and just because I had bad luck with a brand doesn't mean that it is crap. Like you said some brands are more prone to failure than others but then there are those who will bash a brand for a thing like a bearing that fails,in the end put new ones in and get on your bike and ride the hell out of it till the bearing fails again.

Better ask your mechanic if he owns the correct installation set - hope does not fail that easily.

3 sets on three different bikes. Hell yes they last, unlike the DT Swiss rubbish (including shocks that a few mates had on their Scotts). Now that they have Hopes, happy days. The Rovals on some Epics also seem to be pretty ordinary.

Lol

New bearings every month is definitely regukar maintenance

No way - not with properly installed quality bearings.

Someone is dropping the ball very badly - inspect those hubs for damages or faulty installed/missing seals, and quality of bearing, grease and installation.

Yeah I have commented on this thread months ago...

I call Hope Hate thats all...

I have two sets of Pro 2 (non evo) both with 10's of 1000's of KM on them with maybe 3 bearing changes ever on them and in all conditions.

In fact the one pair have some corrosion inside the hub body but the bearings and carriers are perfect...

My brother has 2 sets (evo) as well with many many Km's on them with 1 change on those, had them from brand new!

Yeah, I've got close to 8000km on my Pro Evo 2's, still on the factory bearings. Something doesn't add up here...

DT Swiss may not make the world's best shocks and forks but I have had no issues with their 240 or 350 hubs. Well designed, easy to maintain, work well and good milage on the bearings. Definitely not cheese.

Their hubs and spokes are great, aside from the 370.

Forks and shocks I won't touch with a long stick.
