Now it's time for you to start being amazed at how quickly your riding improves and the levels this bike will take you to. Just don't overdo it too soon, after a few successful road gap jumps at G-Spot, I cropped properly and ended up with 6 stitches in the chin, sprained wrist, sweet roasties on forearm, shoulder, hip, knee, and ankle, and cracked ribs - have been looking at my bike longingly for 2 weeks now

PS those pedals gotta go.

Agreed, this bike makes you feel like you can fly. Was doing Contermans last weekend and it was the most amazing ride shredding the rocks jumping some bumps. One can easily go too fast on this machine...love every moment on it.

PS: i went from cleats to platforms with this bike and it just adds to the fun. My performance is better on this bike with platforms.

Enjoy it!

Ok, let me add my tuppence worth after my first 26km ride on this bike...

"Holy s*** this bike is freakin AWESOME"  :w00t:

So I never received any manual on my Fork & Shock (standard Fox setup), can someone help me out with PSI values please?

I'm running 80PSI on the fork which seem very low compared to my SID but it worked well for me this morning on a normal XC ride. The Shock was 180PSI and that also seemed okay but I used quite a bit of travel there. I'm 85kg of pure lean... fat

Don't work on PSI settings. Rather work on 25% sag front and rear for now. That should be 35mm sag front and 12mm sag rear.

To bed the fork maybe run closer to 30% sag (45mm) then work your way back up to 25%.

For Jonkers and Tokai it's nicer to run your suspension softer. Majik and Bottelary is smooth enough to run it firmer.

Must admit, this bike kinda of makes a ride boring, it just soaks up everything so well that it eventually had me going out of my way to look for contour walls to jump over. Everything I tried to avoid on my hardtail is now a potential obstacle to have fun on :w00t:

The only down side is that I'm on the max seat height for the Medium frame so I feel a little cramped on the seat, esecially compared to my XTC. I might need to go 1cm longer on the stem in the future.

How tall are you?

Think a large might have fitted better then

174cm... I've run medium XC bikes for years but the sizing on the Trance is slightly different.

I'm border line and I'd prefer one or two small changes on a medium than riding a large and feeling the bike is too big for me.

I'm the same length and the M is perfect for me. I actually need to change the stem to a 50mm... for a more upright seating position. Stretching slightly too far currently.

Yeah, height's not the ideal measurement, inside leg length is more accurate. I guess it's just what you're accustomed to though.

I'm so used to being stretched out on my XC bike that the upright positions feels totally weird. But I'll give it some time before I make any changes, like I said, I'll only done a 26kay ride on the bike and by the end of the ride I already felt way more comfortable on it than at the start.

Pity the Cape weather's going to have the last say tomorrow morning, I had a lekka ride planned :cursing:

Buff_SA, try to put longer bars on the bike before you look at a longer stem. This will give a bit more space without messing up the steering response. On a bike like this you should try to avoid a longer stem than it has already.

For the seatpost, get a long dropper post (like a reverb 420?) which will allow a slightly taller setup.

IMHO this thing comes with bars long enough to steer a 747 jumbo jet on the tarmac.........I know, it's terrible ,and my friends are ashamed of me, but I cut 2cm off each end after clipping every bloody tree that is still left standing in Tokai.

Edit:...but, yes, I agree, try stay away from a longer stem.

I used to think a 710 was wide, but now I don't own a bar shorter than 750. I guess you just get used to it.

But I guess there are not a whole lot of forests up here in Gauteng.

I have a 760mm Next35 bar on my 80mm Vipa... wouldn't have it any other way! The OE bars are a good width as far as OE bars go.
