Does anyone have an idea what the road surfaces are like? Rutted roads are probably to be expected, but what about surface sand and loose stones/gravel etc? I did a long distance on very sandy roads this weekend and it really caught me off guard with deflated tires and all.

So here is what we suggest you have:

- Whistle

- Space Blanket

- Paracetamol Tablets

- Anti-Histamine Tablets

- Plasters

- Antiseptic Cream

- Bandage.

Seriously, how many people are going to carry all this stuff with them?

Probably only space blanket and bandage that will take up significant space. I'm also wondering where everything will go, though. I usually don't ride with a saddle bag, but for this one I'm in two minds. Even considering a camel back, but the extra weight that I'm not used to (and all day long) will not do the backside any favors.

I can't make it anymore, wedding that weekend. Unfortunately, I can't transfer it to another hubber either so the prize is a bit wasted.

Rata Del Spruit, by any chance do you have any accommodation booked in Sutherland that you want taken off your hands, battling to find........

Agree, don't have space for all that stuff unless I invest in a camel back. I think I'll just take my chances...

What is the big deal ? We carry that stuff with all the long race , but maybe leave it at home and hope you never need it . :whistling:

It already is in the camelback.

At your speed I doubt you will need any of them.

Just a question regarding liquids. The rules say no liquids in the support box...so how do you refill bottles?

I am sure they will have water at the points.

You can use powder in your box to top the bottle up with.

I will go for the "hope I never need it option" - was just curious if the others carry all that stuff and where.

Space blanket is about the size of 3 gels; a few pills outside their packets are nothing & duct tape can be the bandage - you should always have some of that I reckon.

I tend to fizzle out after about 100kms so I still need a strategy for the other 140km ^_^ Been doing a few LSD's but the post-Argus motivation is missing...

How's your preparations coming along?

Don't know if you still get them, I go everywhere with this thing. It is really really great. Comfy light and comes with a 3l hydration pack. Plenty of space for odds and bobs.
