So now you're going to send him 3 whiskey bottles of West Coast sea water, consignee to pay?

Or is that just too easy ;)

You are a mind reader... Or I'll have him collect it in person at Luthuli House

Well this is going to be quite long.

To start I think this what you guys are doing is great.

I happen to work in a LBS and had a regular customer come in today who bought a Shimano Dura Ace 11spd Di2 from one of these scammer types on olx for R18 000.00, he even go offered the 50% off trick. well blow me down when he avives genuine Shimano Dura Ace 9000 11spd Di2 groupset all still in the proper boxes. it even included the hidden seatpost battery, battery charger and the top of the range junction box that can take TT bars or sprint shifters. He admits he took a massive chance but it seems to have paid off. what i know so far is that it was off OLX, the place was in Pretoria but there was a link to Krugersdorp I think and he insisted on a contact number. when he phoned he aid that the person on the other end sounded Nigerian!!!. Now this groupset's RRP is around R43 500.00. So ether this fell off the back of a truck or somebody some where has connections with a frame manufacturer and they are supplying him with OEM groupset's. now the customer also mentioned Dogma frames and Campag groupset's. I will try find out more tomorrow. So there we where today installing the groupset and guess what everything works and it is a thing of beauty.

So i guess not all of these types of adds are fake, unless someone got egg on there face and then bought the groupset from somewhere else? but I seriously doubt that.

Now due to this I have been doing some hunting and thus came across this on the hub. whilst is was going through the "ridiculous must be a scam classifieds on OLX" I was using Google's image search on all the picture which I find very useful as it show if the image is a fake copy paste by the scammer or not, by number of duplicate images found.

now to the interesting part while 80% of the images returned multiple hits from websites arround the world (ie: scammer) the other 20% only returned one hit on the image, even when searched for in conjunction with the name of the item being sold. this leads me to believe that because there is only one picture of that item on the web that that sell might be legitimate and that he him self took the pic? as for the price I come back to a frame manufacture who has excess stock of components groupset's and wheels from lets say for example 2013 bike builds that they can't now put on the new 2014 bikes. so they sell them out the back door.

Now today I phoned Alfred to see if he was a scammer and for sure he sounded like one, North African (Nigerian) if my guess is correct but as I stated that i live in plett could I come see that Sidi's and Groupset's ? his reply was yes, them i need to do an EFT then i can take the stuff.

So tried to find out who owns http://randombikeswo...ozaonline.co.za and http://cyclingaccess...ozaonline.co.za but as they have the .wozaonline it is proving difficult. but my search has found out that Google apparently owns wozaonline http://co.za/cgi-bin...main=wozaonline so matbe we can get them shutdown or find out some more info?

Or I have a nasty little program that specializes in denial of service, so i could try crashing his sites but then I fear this would incur the wrath of Google as they are supposedly hosting the site? :nuke:

thee end.

Oh and the IP Addresses are as follows: randombikes : 173.194.67.121

cyclingaccessories : 74.125.132.121

These are however linked to Google in the US so ether this bloke is sneaky or lucky :cursing:

I am deeply troubled by the thought that we may have destroyed a lucrative little business. Alfred's unwillingness to accept cash from Joe Massapous was his undoing. He will reappear and we can simply harass him till he folds. Hundreds of bogus enquiries all over again.
