Great World Cup yesterday! OPQS's Zdeněk Štybar has joined the foray for a few events before the road season starts, and making it very exciting. The pace yesterday was full-on, with Naas Daas taking it after some nifty riding, Stybar managed a 3rd after a few seconds lost due to a a cleat problem, loosing the lead on the final corner and not being able to out-sprint Naas.

“I was playing poker,” said race winner and World Cup leader Lars Van der Haar. “I was in the lead, and was lucky that there were a couple in the front who weren’t going for the win in the GC, so they wanted to ride. That helped a lot, especially 'Styby' being there was a really big help. I wanted to be in the front on the stairs, I knew that I would have the biggest chance in the sprint from there. But Stybar didn’t get into his pedals, so it was just everything I had all the way to the finish.” Photo: Dan Seaton | VeloNews.com

Racing almost everyday, follow @cyclingfans for news on streams. UCI World Cup events are being broadcast live on YouTube, and very decent streams they are. Next one is in Roma, we might even see Marco on the start list, fellow I-tie mtb'er Eva has been a regular feature in the Ladies line up.

Nice blog by Elle Anderson, "Feeling at home away from home" on cyclingnews

"Racing in Belgium is a little like visiting the grandparents of cyclo-cross for the holidays, and is a symbolic homecoming in another sense. Compared to the US cross scene, in Belgium I am aware of being at the sport's roots, of discovering a more ancestral form of cyclo-cross, and of learning the subtleties of European cyclo-cross. As difficult as it is to be away from family over the holidays, I'm getting settled into my new Belgian cyclo-cross family quickly.

I feel that if I were ever to call Belgium my home, life would be peaceful and I would learn to be more observant. At least that is the sense I get through racing and on my training rides through the countryside. Towns and farm fields are sleepy and calm and the low brick buildings appear comfortable but solemn. Hedges are square, streets are narrow and cobbled, and I see more bikes than cars traveling the well-marked bike paths that are ubiquitous. At first I tried to give a friendly nod or wave to the cyclists I passed on the road, but since I rarely got any signal in return I stopped. I realized it wasn't rudeness, but simply that they acknowledged quietly with their eyes, observing me as we passed."

Team Cannondale at USA Nationals

http://youtu.be/dWkT5MoZY4E

World cup in France this weekend, Worlds the following.,

Going to be interesting to see how Team USA (men) is going to feature, most of them have not been over the pond this season. Katie Compton is a given though, its really between her and the Vos

Is it only me that's been enjoying the season?

Well its all coming to a head this weekend at the Worlds at Hoogerheide in the NL

In the Elite Men its Sven's to loose, he has been so dominant this season, last few laps he just drops /gaps everyone. Laas "Haas Daas" just took the World Cup honours, but Rob Peeters is looking strong lately. All the US crew are over, will J-Pow make the Top Ten?

In the Womens, Marriane is coming into good form, Katie bombed out this last weekend's WC with an Asthma attack, hope she takes the top spot of the podium. Its going to be a close race.

Womens on Sat pm, Mens on Sunday, will be live on the UCI YouTube channel.

Disappointing response here ...common if you enjoy watching XC, you will love CX

Never mind, here's some news & views from the lanky and swanky Ryan Trebon, who rides for Cannondale-Cyclocross. Planing on riding mtb this year as well.

Yoh Mariane is just a machine.. what a win.. power power power

Like a 9th rainbow jersey or something absurd like that.

To think, she is fresh from recovering from surgery.

She is from another planet.

The greatest cyclist that ever lived, I reckon.

Maybe maybe arguably.
