So I want some decent quality bib shorts... Obviously every review anywhere raves all day about the Assos. The unos are in my price range.

So this is my question:

Os the Assos the best buy for that price, or is there similar quality and comfort for less?

I hear craft are great, not sure about the f tech carbon air...

Also, is the extra money for assos mille justifiable over the unos?

Thanks in advance!

Assos uses the S5 chamois in several of their shorts. This is what you sit on, so unless you are super finickety about the seam patterns, the Uno usually works fine.

Great quality shorts, and very comfortable, I have 2 pairs and use them all the time.

Worth the spend? sure.

look after them and you will get years of use.

Thanks, that's awesome feedback... No one mentions the chamois being the same throughout, glad to know!

Yeah, get the S5 tech between your legs.

Assos rocks.

The Uno is within your price range.

It'll outlive several other brands of bibshorts. And with plush comfort.

I have Castelli Enduro Bib shorts, and they work really well, you will pay about R1500 per bib. I did try on the Assos, but for some odd reason I found them to be uncomfortable, I must probably the only one in the universe that think that way, but that was my experience.

Jip, also recently invested in Castelli bibs after wearing Cape Storm for a very long time. Had I known then what I know now, I would have invested in Castelli many many many moons ago. Fits like a glove and padding is so much better. Plus it's Italian. Nuff said.

I fully agree. Have tried a few different brands and keep going back to Assos. Have had some for 5 years and still going strong. Local brands dont last more than one season! Nothing better than Assos in my opinion. Uno works fine - Mille not worth the difference in price imo..

Assos are really good, I also see the "entry" level Uno as the best buy… But at the price I prefer to limit them to long (3hrs +) rides, with Craft, Mavic and Specialized doing duty for shorter rides...

This.

This is why I love the hub.

Thanks guys, will be purchasing my first expensive as f*** cycle bibs this week, and hey, if all goes well, tomorrow!

But keep the suggestions up, never know if there's anyone out there who needs more convincing!

I have two pairs of Assos, the only reason i have assos is because i get them for discounts. I only wear the assos for Indoor training. I much prefer my other kits, RH77. You can get a whole kit for the price of a pair of assos shorts, and its so much better (in my opinion)
