:) One of.

Forgot it's Friday...

Am moving on to one of the fatty brands that were probably here first - Certainly exposed to us KZN slowed up mere mortals first.

LOL

Life is too good down there .

Speaking of firsts, and most likely the only one.

A project we worked on.

Those spokes are worth a mention.

Looks like a Maverick SC32 to me

Its an upside down fork but not a SC32. The dustguards and 24mm thru axle are absent. SC32 not that wide either.

I have a DUC32 on a Mav ML7.2. It will happily take a 2.5 tyre but not much more.

The legs of the SC2 are straight so can take a bigger tyre, the DUC32 become larger, kind of like baseball bats, towards the top.

I actually wish I'd kept my DUC32

Yeah....mine still OK but battling with spares now. I also need a 6N negative spring instead of the standard 5N and some new fork bushes. Recently did a full rebuild and they working well but worn after some 9yr of riding.

I'm seriously considering fabricating my GT Xizang 9er into a fat bike. Seeing the posts on guys wanting to do the opposite ie. 29er wheels on a fat frame, makes me think that it can be done. I've taken it to my fabricator (he has done work on classic and mx bikes for me) and he reckons no problem! This will only be done next year as we are trying to finish a bike for Day of Champs in Feb, but watch this space! World first Xizang fatty :)

Did you consider chainline you will most likely get tire rub with a standard bbb width or looose some gears. Claculate thoroughly before you cut up your frame.

I insist to disagree as I have ridden and raced 3.8 and 4.0 tyres on 37 and 47mm rims for more then a year in DUC's SC 32 are even wider. Its a tight fir in a DUC but it goes so your 2.5 comment is way off.

There is one of the original mechnics ethan still runing spares in the USA, there is a guy in the UK and I get my spares from France where there is a chap who still seems to have quite some and they even make nex tuned parts. For now my duc and SC 32 are shelved as I am playing with a different toy.

Good to know.

What size does the 3.8 tyre come up to on a 37mm rim? What tyre(s) is it?

Ok Cool. Would not have thought it possible.

Have been wondering what to do with my ML7.2 .......now I know!

I see a pair of wide rims and fat tyres in its future. The bike is just standing idle except for the odd nostalgia ride.

Do you know what max size tyre will fit in the ML7.2 rear triangle?

I don't remember exactly the width though believe it was just under 90mm As I pretzeled the rim a couple of months ago in a crash. It was a Larry. Used it with misson as wel. With the H-Billie in 4.25 on the 47mm rim it became a very tight fit at the top of the travel they where 94mm I believe. It a tight fit on the DUC though but it works. Not good in mud as it starts to rub quickly but fat tires are quite rubbish in mud in any case. I would put some duc tape on the inside of the fork legs so that if mud does rub it just wears the tape and not the paint/annodisation of your fork legs. these are widths running ghetto tubeless on trialtech rims 37 and 47 or 47mm Bonz rims experience says that running a tube you will be 2-3mm narrower(don't ask me why but we noticed at the local shop.
