Its an open classifieds.. If you don't like the price or the add, dont look at it. Surely?

Sorry, I don't mean to come across as mean or bash you but I get more fed up with people and THEIR very expensive 2nd hand, over valued goods.

This is a place where the cycling community bands together, shares their (often one sided and deaf) opinions and yes, stir the pot more often than not. Shops are a huge part of that community. New goods are essential and this virtual centralizasion of nation wide riders and cyclists breaks the borders and opens up everything to the everyone no matter which small dorpie or heaving smokey metropolis you hail from.

Classifieds, not 2nd hand bargain hunting section. That exists here, yes. But sometimes its nice to sift through the stuff you cant afford/dont want to look at to truly appreciate the gem you stumble across...

Just my 2 cents.

But like EVERY thread here, there will be polar opposite views and opinions across the board.

I think he is referring to the banner adverts, which these shops pay for.

Secondly, vintage and retro stuff gets discussed over various topics.

1. Use the search function in classifieds to eliminate expensive items, then they won't bother you

2. Shops advertising and paying for it, can put in the add whatever they like, even a high price, you still don't have to read it or buy their stuff

3. There already is a very active retro thread on the Hub, use your search function

How are we meant to sleep with all these shops advertising cycling stuff on a cycling forum.

Fair enough! We should start a "watchmen on the wall" group, taking turns to stay up all night alerting the group on good deals via "moerse buzzer alarm system satellite signal broadcasting mechanism thing" under our pillows,...just an idea after my first triple espresso.

I am out riding early in the morning and log on quickly as it tends to wake me up.

As long as it don't spoil your ride! (Referring to the "depth" or lack thereof, of some topics ;-)

Some topics are so bizarre and some posts are so funny it's like having a cup of strong coffee.

I don't mind bike shops and their new stuff. At least then you know what you're paying for. And you can scroll on if you're not impressed.

What I don't like is when someone adds old, beat up parts and bikes and then say it's "as new", "hardly used" or "great condition" and then ask for 10 year old stuff what i can get it for new.

Maybe if they check out the adds and see what going prices are for new and old they can get a better idea what to sell their stuff for.
