Shiny bike

Shiny - reflecting light, typically because very clean or polished.

I have found Wynns' Poly Wax very useful in cleaning my bike. Polish goes on easy, removes even tar splatter with some extra elbow grease, cleans rubber and cabling components and does not leave white streaks. Black rims and spokes look brand new after use.

Thought I would just mention it for those of us who suffer from a bit of OCCycD. It is also cheaper than the other more well known liquid polish brands.

This brokkie inligting is just for notice - use it, don't use it.

I also use wynn's car wash, when I have it. Otherwise Maguires gold (beginning of the month salty cracks), works brilliantly.

Mr. Min works really well for that after wash shine. I keep a tin in my bike cleaning box. Spray on some mutton cloth and whip frame down, then buff to get a nice shine.

I found some brilliant things the other day: Carlton Tough Task wipes, "removes grease and grime". I'm not big on washing bikes; I think the water does more damage than grime. But these things are great, because you just wipe all the road crud off. Especially useful if you live in a flat.

I'm not clued up on off the shelf chemical mixes.

only bike cleaner here.

Dilute 1:20 to wash and neat to remove grease etc.

costs me R120 for 5ltr and lasts well on a year.

I can't say anything about how visible one will be if the bike is clean and glossy. I think I washed my bike once i the last 3 years.

But I am all for visibility at night.

I did 2 things to my bike that I think will make me look like a christmas tree at night.

As all knows red bikes are faster so I go one. I then got my self red and yellow reflective type and sticked it all over the bike.

Here is the result.. My bike use to have more but it came of with the one wash.

The second thing i did was getting a tail light hat is so bright it is very annoying cycling behind me. I know because i get informed about this every time we are caught in the dark. Usually by then I am very thankful that i don't have to lead.

Extremelights will get stock of the laser tail light soon. The laser beams i.m.o is a overrated. I don't think it will do much more than change the shape and it might draw some attention but not more than 20 meters away. But the rear facing 5 LEDs are the brightest that I have ever seen on a tail light. And it is rechargeable which helps.

Where can I get this? I've seen it at Makro before, but it's not listed online anymore, so I'm not sure if they still stock it.
