Patchelicious Posted January 5, 2014 Share Have you got a dropper post? and if so, is it worth the hype?I understand the logic behind it, but would love to hear from those who have actually used it, before dropping (ja ja) R5k on one. Iwan Kemp Posted January 5, 2014 Share Enough of that... When riding another bike it is ALWAYS the single thing I miss the most. It has transformed my short travel 29er into a seriously capable trail machine.
patches Posted January 5, 2014 Share Yes I have one.Yes it is worth every penny and all the hype (provided you get a decent one).and you don't need to spend 5k. 3k should do the trick (unless you want a KS Lev).

HaydenWilson Posted January 5, 2014 Share I guess the real question is...... do you lower your seat ever? optimal seat height for ripping down a trail is not the same as optimal seat height for extended bigring cranking. so if you tend to stop and manually adjust your seat height at least once pet ride. then a dropper post is for you! I fiddle with seat height constantly and my riding companions are gatvol of me shouting droooooppppppeeeerrr seatpooooost! every time I bomb down some awesome singletrack. but if you only gently pedal along district roads then I would not bother. so if you are undecided. just lower your seat at your next favourite bit of fast downhill sidetrack and feel the difference it makes. Beefy Posted January 5, 2014 Share Agree with sentiments above. Get a good one and you won't be disappointed. Would stay away from the specialized command post. Not great but still better than a regular seat post.
Cruz Addict Posted January 5, 2014 Share Lol I have one and It's worth double every penny spent. That being said I rode a mates bike with a spez command post and almost had my balls pushed through my teeth. Yes it's a dropper but has no return damping from what I could tell.he keeps on telling me it's the business because it's mechanical etc but if you value your balls at all avoid it. Robodog Posted January 5, 2014 Share You can ge entry level KS posts for under R2k last time I looked. Quality is the similar to top of the range just has different mechanisms for cable actuation. To answer your question: almost every bike in my garage has a dropper. Even my single speed. At the Farmasutra SS event the cable came loose on my Lev and it was almost like I forgot how to ride a bike downhill (enduro type trails) with the post all the way up. I am not SomeBloke Posted January 5, 2014 Share I stop to raise and lower my seat post at least four or five times on a ride. A dropper would make the world of difference but there are pretty limited options in 27.2 and the KS only has 100mm travel. It may just be enough, though. Would like to test it first.
