Hi guys,

I have a Giant contact switch dropper.

Awesome but the "stanchion" seems like it could do with a lube of some sorts perhaps. Anything you could recommend, Q20??

No, keep the Q20 far away, in a naughty corner only to be used on steel -> steel contact (read: rusted bolts, squeaky doors).

Either a decent silicone spray, or even better a light weight engine oil. You can buy stanchion oil from most LBS but for the price of a tiny bottle you can just as well use a few drops of motor oil.

Ok, so i am too damn lazy to read the whole thread.

I am building a ritchey 650b hardtail.

I want a dropper post.

27.2mm

Whats the best one to get?

There are only a handful in 27.2...

KS makes a remote 27.2 as far as rememeber. .

KS Lev. Why? It has the actuation dinges at the bottom of the seatpost, so there's no wire bobbing around to ruin the lines and / or finish of the ritchey (which you want to keep looking lekka)

It also comes in your size

There are other options, but that's the one I'd go for. It's readily available and does the job properly.

Yes. KS is one which we supply. Not sure about stock levels at the agents.

anyone know what the long term durability of the 27.2mm dia droppers are ..... my HT can do with one

At some point the industry must turn around and say X dia is the biggest and best for long term durability and stiffness on a dropper post, let's all play nice and get the whole MTB industry to also follow this "standard"

Standard is a very loose term in MTB... as every manufacturer has a standard!!

Andrew Savage is running one on his on one... Yeah, he's not the heaviest around, but give him a tinkle and ask him what he thinks...

this thing?

Yes .

And you see the difference between that and the one that Hairy has posted? The Lev has the cable stopping at the collar (by the quick release dinges) whereas the X Fusion (and many others) have the cable extending all the way to the seat.

IMO the ones with the cable going all the way to the seat look a bit messy. It also opens up the frame to a bit more cable rub when you raise & lower the seat... Unless you're meticulous in your cable routing.

convenience, luxury item, must have , call it what one may .... it is one of THE best additions to the MTB components family by far. Climb or descend tis all good;)

Best value for money is the XFusion HILO dropper series posts
