post-2596-0-57690400-1389297693_thumb.jpgHey guys

Saw this ad on gumtree. Looks a very cheep to me but might just be an old bike, I might just be out of the loop on what these go for. The seller also seems disinterested in the specs which is odd to me. Pics are not that clear but if you know someone who has had one stolen have a look. If you know this is a legitimate post feel free to mention it and ill take this down.

That fork is more than 10 years old.

Weighs about 6.5kg and is most likely still plush as the day it came out the box.

Very cheap bike indeed but could be trashed. Hubs, pivots, rear shock etc.

Giant AC frame. The fork violates the official fork travel limitation. But those frames are pretty darn hardcore. Price is a bit optimistic...

Well spotted, I forgot about that part...

It probably takes the HA up to a "modern" standard

I loved the AC i had, but damn, after a while, you start wishing there was more travel at the back.

I wonder how the seller ended up with the bike? It seems like he's more interested in keyboards than DH bikes.......WEIRD.

To be honest, because it's so old it's more of a "mess-around" bike, so it's not that strange at all. DH and trail bikes tend to become that as they reach retirement age, they appeal to punk rocker type kids who want something that looks cool, even though they may not strictly be cyclists according to the general Hub paradigm.

I guess your right, I can see how that happens. Its just weird for me because I am a mech. engineer and love to know what I have and to know the specs of stuff. It just so happens that I am a punk rocker type as well, but I still love bikes way more than keyboards.

I totally get your point though.

Hi Guys I know this is a bit late.

That bike belongs to me. It was stolen out of my garage in June last year. The bike is old yes but it had sentimental value as it was the first bike I built up and meant a lot to me so I refused to sell it. As for the fork yes that isn't it's usual fork I only fitted that one as the inflation valve broke on the it's usual fork and so I swopped it out.

I by chance stumbled across this thread while searching for other things. I had given up hope on ever finding the bike but I looked anyway and to my horror I found that it was my bike. I have since reported to the SAPS and they have opened a case and assured me the bike will be recovered. Everything that I put on that frame appears to be in place, the only exception if that this **** sprayed it black. I have made a list of all the components on this frame and their even some custom changes on that frame that only I would recognise because as you imagine, spares for a frame of that age are hard to come by.

The bike has been reported as stolen so if anyone who reads this has bought please know that you are in possession of stolen goods and will be subject to the same laws as the guy who stole it. If you guys know of any one who has bought this bike please contact me.

This prick has whatsapp and so I could see what he looks like on his profile when I saved the number. The cops reckon that this is an easy case for them to solve and will track it down. ( so they say)

I know this is an old bike and is not my only bike, but it has sentimental value to me and I was heartbroken when it was stolen. I know every single detail of this thing down to the last pivot bearing. The cops were surprised at the level of detail I could give them and assured me I have strong case. I was offended that this guy couldn't even tell what brand it was even though the Giant badge is staring him in the face. This leads me to believe that he is the one who stole it as no one will buy a bike not knowing its details.

I'm appealing for help from the anyone who can help with this
