Oraait.

I agree. Noticing the A and thereabouts results over the last few races.

There's some intensity in there.

About the CAT 3, with respect as an outsider view, it is D-F seeded riders (as opposed to strictly Vets).

Surely this impacts the quality and nature of racing.

In Vets, 2012-2013, there was nothing relatively timid about the category. I've shed many a tear behind my Rudys.

To be fair, after 10 or 15 riders had gone off the front, the rest of the CAT3 group were only interested in getting home (which doesn't explain the craziness in sprinting for 16th place in the group, or 200 overall while dodging traffic cones, marshals, stray dogs and small children!).

We rode 12 minutes into them in just 70kms. PPA needs to start A-C before CAT 3 in future.

Gotcha.

I support A-D for CAT 3. Offer some additional developmental scope for those in D.

"stray dogs.. small children..." hillarious!

The problem with A-C starting ahead of Cat 3 is that the breakaway riders of Cat 3 chase A-C down and work with them to stay away from the chasing CAT 3 group.

This happened last week.

10 minutes gap should have been enough between CAT 3 and A, but it wasn't. I think it should be 30 minutes.

last week i was in the bunch that was caught by the break away CAT3!

4riders fighting it out. they wouldnt let us interfere with their paceline at all, so no we didnt work together with them!

i was told very agro'ly to either ride off the front or stay behind them as they are "racing"

dont agree with the CAT3 group ahead of A-C riders!!!

Here's mine: started in Cat3, pace was okayish from the start. One guy right at the back touched wheels and went down hard. No one else involved. Took a turn of pace which seemed to last forever leading up to Botmas. Before the climb broke from the group to join Luc McCann. The plan was to crest with the front riders. Half way we were caught and passed by guys which seemed like they were on scooters. Anyway, hr went up another 5 beats trying to stay with mountain goats, had to back off.

Solo A group rider caught us sometime later, guy was all legs! Joined by another A rider a few mins later, and then there were many of them.

Finish was fast and dangerous!

Roller coaster will be interesting

So Cape Town Giants meets Luc McCann...

Interesting read so far, although this is my take. if the league guys want to ride tactic, then the A-C guys should start before Cat 3 and 4. I was part of the 4 man break in A. Loved every moment of it but it came to and end when my Garmin broke free of it's mount. Race mojo obliterated (after stopping and retrieving my Garmin).

Then I chilled and waited for the 2nd A-C bunch, rode with them for a while and decided to wait for buddies of mine riding D bunch (my result would now not reflect my effort anyway) at Windmeul.

Played sprint coach to a buddy and it payed off. Satisfied with my race, legs still sore and prep for next race.

Btw, the two guys from A that got away - the were part of the 4 man break too, and a guy in HotChillee kit.

So both of yous wear the shoe on the other foot, if either catch either. Do "league" riders get the benefit of the doubt? Or do "funriders" get ride off as hard as they want ?

I'm not sure..... Every race for how long it's the same thing.

No disrespect to either! But there is probably no way to control it. Whichever who goes first one will catch the other.

The other guy in HotChillee kit who rode in the break was CrashTestDummy. I really thought you had a chance of staying away...

I now appreciate the irony of you Hub name - you're anything but tiny ;)

Was that the guy on a black and yellow bike?

I agree, league starts at 5am while we all still try to get to the venue. We do live in a democratic country right? Majority rules: funrides over leagues.
