How do you keep the butternut from taking over?

I dont bother it is the back of my garden in a compost heap.

I have 2700 sq meters of garden so quit happy to let the butternut go wild in the back section

Thats just a covering, almost like a leaf, and inside is a nice yellow gooseberry. Will see this eve and take more pics

Goose Berries are flipping awesome .... we have some growing, but unfortunately our Lab also loves them, so I have seen nothing of it.

We have a granadilla growing in the back passage and it has just taken off this year delivering the most amazing flavour fruit!

Hi Willie, as the butternut start flowering, allow only three blossoms to fruit, break all the others off.

So allow 3 fruit per planted seed.

Same method for good quality pumpkins...

Waiting patiently until March to start planting again. Garden was stripped a few weeks ago. Managed to lay my hands on some wooden packing crates. Going to line them with some biddum and set up some herbs , lettuce and spinach in the courtyard. Butternut, cucumber, tomatoes and chilies in the garden.

This time around I'm planting stuff that I actually eat... :D

My mielies and beans are doing okay. My Butch T's and Marougas are doing amazing! Can't wait to feel the heat and see what the fuss is about.

Be careful of the afterburn as it goes down your throat with those marougas. They awesome. Where did you them?
