Hi Hubbers.

As cyclists, we spend many hours on the bike subjecting our skin to all sorts of punishment. viz, harsh sunlight, wind, rain, mud, dirt etc. As a cyclist, how do you care for your skin.

From my perspective, i make sure that I always apply sunblock before a ride. I use Nivea with a SPF factor of 30 or higher. I also always ride with UV protectors for my arms. The biggest problem I face is when the sunscreen mixes with sweat and gets into the eye. "Eina". Anybody have a solution to this problem.

After my ride, I was all the gunk off apply "Nivea body lotion for men" to my skin. (I do not work for Nivea or endorse their products. That's just what I use).

What do you use and are there better products available.

Swap the sunblock to Island tribe - only one I have found that does not hurt my eyes - they have one that looks like a giant lipice tube - works extremely well, and can be carried with you - although I have never needed to.

I used to have the same problem with sunscreen getting into my eyes. I also play lots of golf and water skiing, having fair skin i need the best protection. The product used to be called Ironman 8 hour and was designed as it name says, for the iron man athletes that are out in the sun all day. I have been using it for 6 years now and have never been sun burnt, my kids use the same product daily before school and have converted most my friends. Techniblock spf 50 (spray can) for arms and legs and YES YES the Island tribe (big ass lipice one ;) ) for face.. sweat doesn't run into your eyes. And I've never had to reapply during a long (6 hrs +) ride. Have also never ended up looking like a lobster

That Island tribe stuff is awesome, I still don't put it above my eyebrows tho-that's what the peak is for.

I do - full head - otherwise I get weirdo cycling helmet tan..... the combined disadvantage of.... a) fair skinned, b) partially bald and c) favouring a #1 clipper cut...

Even with the 50SPF stick type applied on my cheek bones and nose I still get sunburn. Any advice?
