What are you doing on that scale?

Weighing myself. .

WHY?

My BMI is a bit over and I'm going for my Vitality thing , and.....and....

AND WHAT????

I uh.... I... uhm...want to be a better climber.

A better climber ? A better climber ,are you serious? You are always at the back. You get dropped by fat people and old women, AND YOU WANT TO BE A BETTER CLIMBER????

You think I want to be married to a skinny little boy ,huh? Get off that scale NOW!!!!!!!!

I cannot understand why companies such as discovery still utlises the normal weight vs. heigh BMI measurements to see whether you are in shape or not?

Maybe one of you can put shed more light on this for me.

I am 1.8m tall and weigh 86kg at the moment (I am still going down) but even now people are starting to tell me to seriously stop now as I am starting to look funny.

Even if I go down to 80 kg I will still be classed as overweight!!

I have always been quite muscular and therefore I feel that it is a bull**** way of measuring and they should wake the f up.

Maybe I'm clueless but please tell me why and how and I will gladly accept my "overweight" status!!!!

Attached pic is of me in November 2013 I have since lost another+-3 kg still classed as fat....

Hi Izak,

Also did the same BMI Test and at 1.79m tall and 93 kg's I was considered to be clinically obese! They say my ideal weight should be 80kg's Now I have been down to 85kg's and I was skraal! A mate of mine who is 1.85m tall and 87kg's was also considered to be overweight. Having a look at that picture you look in pretty good shape and who gives a flying f what Discovery thinks. Their rewards programme has gone for a ball of shite but that is another thread all on its own!

I hear you, its more about the way they (and others) measure it. There are just too many variables to make it close to reliable.

It's a GUIDE LINE that was developed in the 1800's loooong before humans bulked up with muscle, everyone was living on scraps and rats in those days, no one had any form of bulk,

How about throwing into the mix disproportionate body shape? Those of us with short legs and a long torso and arms also get a raw deal from the bmi calculator
