I would be interested in the mechanics of riding with a firearm.

Can it not accidently discharge during an involuntary dismount?

If the safety is on, isn't it much harder to fire quickly?

I've got absolutely no problem with guns or cycling with them.

Just curious...

Glock has three inbuilt safety mechanisms. Pretty much zero chance of an accidental discharge.

And by depressing the safety located in the trigger, the other two disengage.

You can 'unsafety' it as quick as you can pull the trigger.

I have a Stainless steel, 3" barrel, 5 shot 357 Magnum which is compact enough to take along cycling. One of my biggest concerns is that if more cyclists starts packing firearms on our rides, that criminals might target us then for bikes and firearms.

I do.

Glock 17 9mm.

I rose karkloof today with a gun in my backpack, but only because I had it with me for the drive down and had nowhere to leave it. Not sure how to conceal comfortably with easy access if riding normally.

What about an Ependorf filled with acid or dare I say it, Anthrax,

The epindorf implodes rather nicely when discharged from a catapult in the direction of selfish, inconsiderate HiAce drivers. I know a catty in not good on a bike but the epindorf with good stuff inside will be.

Just saying...........

Ive decided from now its me my bike the sun and MR GLOCK, im finished with these absolute mad fools, seriously, read of this every day, and yes there is alot of cyclists out there that do stuff to upset motorists, but there are alot of good cyclist taking the wrap for BS, my son was almost taken out the smorning while training with me, cause a fool cut the corner to beat the robot, the driver then throws zaps and drives off, he can be so damn lucky Glock was locked away. (Sorry i hi jacked the post), but i have decided enough is enough POINT

Just curious here.....how fast can you get Mr Glock out? What you going to do if you crash and fall and a kid picks up Mr Glock?

Law says the firearm must be under your direct control.I a backpack it isn't under your control.

The fact that you are implying that you would have drawn a firearm because someone pulled a zap at you after doing something dangerous is probably good enough reason for you never to take your Glock out of the safe. The majority of gun owners spend a lot of effort promoting responsible behavior and it only takes a few people drawing or using guns in the wrong situation to really hurt our cause.

I have a secure specialised moon bag that you wear the Glock fits snug in a compartment that hoses a holster and that is secure that in turn is covered with velcro, it is totally concealed and secure, cant go off and cant come off your body, its a heavy duty secure system around the waste, its made for 9mm, Glock and 6 shooters, sounds complicated and a long process, but can be in your hand and out the pouch in under 2 seconds, i have used this many times and have had zero issues, got it many years ago in gun shop in Kempton Park.

fact is i have had a gun many years been on self defense classes, and all that, but until you experience (and i pray you don't), some a hole almost take your kid out then get arrogant and challenge you while picking your child up off the road, and then he carries on with you and you walk to him and he continues and then drives away, and that red mist is there then we will talk again, mess with me its cool hurt me its cool, hurt my wife kids you mess with the devil and will get hurt point. I am the first to promote gun safety and im a level headed freak, but don't mess with my family or hurt them cause them humanity leaves the soul and frankly the bastard comes out.

Of course it is legally under your control in a backpack. Impossible to access quickly, but under your control

How can it be under your control when you can't even see it?
