I sincerely hope all these lovely pieces of Campag belong to the posting hubbers! Would love to call 1st dibs but I am but a poor man.

Here are some pics of a Vitus I am busy building using various bits and pieces I had lying around.

So far:

  • Nuovo Record rear derailer (very light even compared to newer 10 speed Record Titanium!)
  • Record(?) front derailer
  • Gran Turismo crank and chainrings (not in the best of shape with oil and grease marks in the alloy) Not sure I know how to restore this?
  • Nuovo(?) callipers
  • Brake levers minus any hoods at this stage. Not yet cleaned

Remember seeing a white car like this at a Durban motor show when I was about 13 years old and always remembered looking at the wheels and wondering what Campagnolo was.

This was before I started cycling...

Besides improving on his original designs with the legendary Campagnolo Record and Super Record groups, in the years from 1950 to 1980, Tullio Campagnolo worked on other projects. Among them was the legendary Campagnolo corkscrew, as well as working with lightweight aluminium alloy and magnesium for NASA, for use in the construction of the Apollo space module. Campagnolo also developed helicopter rotors and a unique braking system used by GP motorcyclists Walter Villa and Johnny Cecotto to win GP's and World Championships. Nonetheless, the core business at Campagnolo continued to be the bicycle sector.

this seems crap expensive simply to walk around a company and then ride on roads you could probably ride on for free

You do have a point there.
