Dont forget to ride on Gravel as it takes more out of you than on a Tar road. Get those bumps under the belt(butt). Eensaamheid Road and Spes Bona are good training roads.

Don't forget Slent, that corrugated piece of crap represents everything I hate about dirtroadie riding.

Did a ride to Paarlberg this weekend, it's about a 100km return trip from Durbanville with a lekker long climb & downhill in the middle. Good training for the K2C I hope!

And your time? Are you doing it again this year? Well done and good luck.

I am!! My time was 7h06 - an hour before the cut off. Was quite chuffed with myself. This year I'm hoping to do it in 5h30 as I'm on a 29er now and have been riding throughout the year.

Good luck to you too!! Hope the weather is as good as last year!

You'll make it! I did it last year, 2 months after I started mtb, and my longest ride before I did the race was 33km (with LOTS of climbing!). With that in mind, I think anyone can do it if your mind is strong enough.

Eeeek, was supposed to be in response to Generaal Gert. Sorry!

Cool, I must say I can do a flatish (550m - 650m accent) 60km in just under 3 hours...

It's just all the climbing that is really scaring me

AR88 - Come join us over the weekend - we normally go at +-20km/h flattish rides with a malanshoogte and vissershok climb worked in. We're not the fittest bunch in africa but we try our best

Thanks! Are you doing a ride this weekend? How far and what time?

We'll be riding on saturday morning - normally start at 06:30, meet up at the Caltex garage on the corner. Head out towards Silos and take it from there. +-75-80km this weekend.

How do you get onto the slent road from durbanville? Have heard so many thiings about this but can never find it!!!

Just start at your own pace, dont get caught up in the HYPE at the start.

I think that is very good and important advice although it is a bit difficult when there are many riders around. Will try my best though also!

Thanks for sharing that stella, some motivation for us first timers! How did you find the K2C, must of been quite a big jump from starting 2 months before and a max ride of 33km? How was your fitness levels before starting mtb'ing?
