Have anyone tried to fit this tire on these rims?

I found it next to impossible and in the process fitted it the wrong way round.

While struggling removing the tire I damaged the bead.

The fit on the rim is too tight and seating it is also very difficult.

Try applying some soapy water with a sponge to the bead next time. Sometimes it works wonders. Had similar issues with my Geax on Rovals. Sorry about your tire damage. It sucks big time

From the ZTR site - not yet updated with 650b, but likely same scenario!

"WTB TCS and UST 29 inch tires are too tight for Stan's Notubes rims and NoTubes licensed rims such as Sun Ringle Black Flag."

Tread mag just had a test on this tire and they claim it seated on the same rim with no problems.

Will write to both Tread and WTB and ask.

I wrote to Stans and they say that the TCS tires are not compatible.

Thread Mag did give some excellent tips on how to get the tire on. I will try this.

Thanks Sean from Tread Magazine for this information.

"the tyres took a slight amount of effort to get onto the Stan’s wheels we used". Although it wasn't anything major.

Depends on the specific model of Wolverine tyre (there are three variations). But essentially I:

  • Wiped everything clean on the rim and tyre casing.
  • Squirted a slight amount of bike polish on a rag and wiped that on the tyre and rim bead.
  • Mounted one side of the tyre (it had been lying in the sun for a while) worked the tyre bead against the rim bead. Then steadily worked the other side on using two tyre levers.
  • Pumped to seat the tyre, then deflated and popped part of the tyre off and added sealant (OKO)

Tip: Scrape down the tip of a set of tyre levers, this helps to hook the bead of the tyre with the lever.

NB: I did recently add more sealant, and the tyres were noticeably more difficult to get off the rim and ended up using three tyre levers. The weather has been cool and rainy. Could be that the tyre lying in the sun was the reason it was easier to fit initially.

Should have just got real wheels and substituted the Stans for WTB i23 650b rims...... Laced onto WTB single duty rear and light duty front with 2/1.65/2 dbl butted spokes and WTB Wolverine tires are amazing.... Hold a bead to any tire, seal like a bass with a foot pump and feel phenominal.......

Everybody loves their stans rims but if you venture away from the norm you will find some pretty special products.
