Say what you want but that was 1 hell of a ride.

I'd never manage to stay in Zone 5B and 5C for that time.

You have a high LTHR.

You way fitter than me.

You going to be on fire at the 94.7....

Looking at the data, yes, it was a HARD ride.

Think my LTHR is actually higher than 168, compared to R4V.

Now I know why I...

a) saw fuzzy white things running across the road;

b) ran out of fluid with 15km to go;

c) suffered on the climbs on the tandem, that usually aren't that difficult on a single bike;

d) couldn't sit on the back of a single bike's wheel on a gradual drag;

f) need to train harder smarter;

g) sucked big time, yesterday - rule #5 would apply here;

h) all of the above

Wasn't in the red at all... more like purple.

edit: spelling (I hope)

Where did you get the zones breakdown?

Sorry, should elaborate a bit.

My zones were setup based on my LTHR field test.

30 minute ride as hard as you can go, push the lap function at 10 minutes and use average HR at end of 30 minutes.

The more I look at the figures, the more I'm (slowly) convincing myself I didn't have that bad a ride yesterday. but it still sucked knowing I could have gone faster.

Casper, Des and I were giving the U16's a hard time at the start. Casper said they must pedal hard, so we don't catch them. Des stirred a bit and then the announcer helped stir the pot. We eventually passed the U16's just after the first water point before some of them passed us again going up Inchanga.

Was my first one and I must say the last 40km with that head on wind was hard,but I can say I won't be doing it next year. Road is not for me I will stick to my MTB,got really bored,used to jumping over jumps single track and rock gardens that's more my thing. But respect to all roadies.

You had a hard day in the saddle and pulling your cargo definitely made your legs stronger !!!

You'll repeat the benefits soon.

I know the feeling, and it hurts.

At least I know my training is (sort of) on schedule. A 10-day business trip to China put a spanner in the works last month. My zones are also relatively accurate and not the simple 220-age calculation.

I am in L.

First road race, so no previous seeding.

I was wondering about some of the guys ahead of me... Started in N with quite a history of racing, just not much roadbike in the last 18 months.  :thumbdown:

Any other racetec-timed races you've done in the past year though?

Bar last year's 94.7 where I decided its a good idea to tow **** around... nope.

However, I think it was not too bad to start in N - the little bit of a bunch that we had, got blown apart going up what strava calls Inchanga, and soon after that I lost my legs too...  :blush:

Eventually limped home in the wind @ 3:59:21 - I guess not bad for 3 weeks of training after losing weeks to wedding planning and honeymoon.

I will be back next year!

So.  I went on to last year's results and compared with this year.  Nolan and the boys were 7 minutes down on last year.  That is just under 5%.  So take off 5% from your time and that should give you a better reflection of what you could have achieved without the wind.  For me that is a 3.19 which is what I was hoping for.  I'm happy.

Jeez, thats impressive.

My zones look nothing like that :blink: but then racing elite is never going to be a constant sustained effort. :whistling:

My power zones look way better, but only for a feather-weight. Averaged 4.17W/KG for the whole race.
