Hi Guys

I wonder if any of the local distributors, bicycle shops and associated industries ever stop to think about their poor service? If I was this bad at my job I wouldn't be able to afford cycling equipment but this doesn't seem to cross their minds.

I don't know if these people do this as over-passionate cyclists with no customer / business sense or perhaps as I see it the owners of these businesses got into the industry by chance due to their bottomless pits of money and cycling is more a hobby than a business but I think its time they wake up and do something about their poor customer service. All to often there is no stock, long lead times and if you are lucky enough to make contact with them they make promises and never deliver.

I say wake up all you distributors, bicycle shops and agencies its time you realized cycling is an expensive sport and there is a global recession!! Don't take business for granted and try to be more customer orientated.

A random, broad comment like this is useless. Specifics will get noticed and should get a result.

My immediate thought to this is that you're dealing with the wrong "distributors, bicycle shops and agencies".

AAARRRGGGHHH! Just 2 hours after this thread was posted!!!

I found the time in my day, drove all the way to the shop that assured me had the part and guess what!

I repeated on 3 separate occasions what I needed, confirmed with the dude on the phone after he repeated what I was looking for and then headed out satisfied that I would get what I wanted.

CAN YOU BELIEVE it was the wrong thing! There are only two options available in this part and it was the wrong one!?!

Luckily I stepped out of the shop to calm down, walked back in and dealt with someone else who was kind, caring and helpful. Not the sack of teeth who could not have been bothered to actually listen to what I needed.

I ended up buy more equipment than what I needed to compensate for the difference in parts, and why? Because the lady helping me, was helping me!

Agreed, there is something wrong with some shops, big time!

In Stellenbosch I have after 5 years yet to find a shop that can tune a groupset. I've given up and do it myself now.

I'll tune you, post a YouTube clip of you tuning your group set and it might make the Awesome thread.

Sorry just tuning u *** :-)

I always liked dealing with the smaller owner run shops.

by and large they were always cut form the same cloth so there was already a bond. Once you have a relationship with the shop it gets a lot easier.

Although some shops are just snoooty and the attitude of the sales staff makes me want to moer them. They don't get my money ever

Absolutely, agreed. As soon as sales people work on commission you can kiss any good advice goodbye. They will sell you whatever has the biggest margin, btw, that does not mean most expensive. I had a friend who worked for the Pro shop, golf store. He always recommended the same clubs, no matter what your needs or skill or expectations were. Because they were affordable, super dooper *** clubs, and sold for 3 x what they paid for them. He smiled every month when he got his cheque. I remember when I bought my first bike way back, went to a couple of shops, yet all the Cycle Lab stores wanted to sell me a Focus, all of them. Obviously a cash cow. Now I have a relationship with my local bike shop. It works out great. I give him money, he saves me troubles. Perfect.

Do not wan't to disappoint all the Specialized haters, but I am on my second warranty replacement of my Marathon Epic frame. Both were replaced with new ones within 2-3 days, no questions asked.

No why did both crack on the same spot....... (please don't answer that one).

Very bad worst shop "Thehubsa" classifieds. Selling faulty damaged equipment.

Not everyone is like that. I have bought stuff from different people where the goods were in the condition as promised. There will be some people that arent ethical and these people must be reported. Some people also look after their stuff better than others.....
