Is this inverted shock going to take off?

I still need to see proof that the tapered steerer or the thru axel bringing any benifit in rigidity etc. I have had both and I now ride a tapered steerer and 12mm thru axel and they still flex as much and more importantly while running 1.6bar tire pressure all of this is out the window anyway as the tire still 'flexes' as much

90% of this is just marketing hype to force more sales. We need the latest greatest. no matter if it was the latest and greatest 10 years ago as well. Just like fashion it keeps repeating itself, but now with newer tech they are able to show improvements over the old.

Not 100% sure what it is you're referring to as tapered is obviously your fork, but 12mm will be your rear maxle. If you have flex with a 12mm thru axle or X-12 Syntace you need to blame your frame and not the technology.

1.6 bar your tire's sidewall will most squirm under load and roll on it's sidewalls - again thru axles and tapered steerers can't be blamed for running a tire with too little pressure. And even that is tire specific. Has got nothing to do with stiffness.

Feeling the benefits out on the trail depends on how hard you ride and what you ride. If you're a light XC / Marathon rider chances are you won't push the bike to where you will feel the benefit. It's like saying to me the BB of a road bike can take X amount of WATTS more than the next one - I'm not strong enough to cause just about any flex in the BB or cranks. Doesn't mean it's not possible.

Now if they did that in a dual arch ala Magura then they could have a nice and stiff fork.

That seems a bout 10% above where its supposed to be so I suspect the LBS are going to rip your ring on these so they can push their current stock.

They land in July btw...
