Dripping oil can only come from floating fluid, Rock Shox have all their fluid internal with a bit of floating fluid for the dust wipers, there will be seals and bushings a bit higher up.

The floating fluid is generally quite a heavy weight and is only for lubing, often when the fork gets stiction, then that means it needs a service and fresh float fluid.

If the float fluid comes running down the stanchions, it's an indication that there might be stanchion wear or perished dust wipers.

As Golefty pointed out, if the fluid comes pouring down, it will be indicative of a much larger problem.

And upside down forks (Even those lefty's) look like they sure can rip a trail ... pic attached for those who are wanting facts.

Not only that I don't get the argument that the lowers will get scratched??!!!! I have never broken a Lefty's boot in 14 years of riding Lefty's. I tend to not want a scrape past rocks instead I go over them or around. These forks generally have a boot or a plasstic guard anyway so I really can't see the issue except that people have to have something to say even when it is totally meaningless drivel

If there's float fluid coming past your wipers you've probably turned your fork inside out. The only place there should be float fluid is in the air chamber on Fox forks and shocks.

Only difference here is that we are talking Rock Sox.

Replace "float fluid" in your first post with "bath oil" and I'll stop splitting hairs...

You are the one splitting hairs, float fluid has been known as such for many years till Fox decided to brand their little tube as Float fluid, any fluid that splashes around the system and it's a heavy weight fluid is a floating fluid.

If you need to go on a course, I will be happy to assist.

Which Rock Shox fork uses float fluid/heavy weight fluid for the "splash around" bath oil to lube the stanchions, is that what you use?

Every single fork gets 15 ml's of fluid in the lower legs.

Ag man Droo, was trying to see how many more gems we could squeeze out of Wyatt!

Thanks ,you guys are way above my level of intellect, I have been working on these things for the past 13 years and I learn from the best everyday.

Thank you for your help and Droo, your googling skills is a wealth of information , I will ponder in it, however stick with what I know.

And if the two of you need help, my door is open, I am prepared to show you guys how a fork should be serviced.

Skylark, you especially are very welcome, I would love to learn from the best, but perhaps maybe even part some of my thumb sucking skills upon your already incredible wealth of knowledge .

The open oil bath splash system comment really blew mind, I never knew they were te same, I know that the older Fox forks as well as Marzocchi forks used an open oil bath system, but from now it will be treated as a splash system as well.

Pearls of wisdom as you pointed out.
