Cyclists are idiots

Rant on.

OK, not all of us, but if the majority of us behave like it, that's the impression non-cyclists and the general public get.

On my way to the Cradle this morning, I caught up with 3 guys, 2 in TroiSport kit, one on a Cannondale Flash, the other 2 on road bikes, can't remember the 3rd guys kit.

Now I sincerely hope the 3 of you read this. .

You, are, idiots.

1. Riding 2 abreast IN the middle of the lane, no where near the yellow emergency lane.

2. Skipping red lights.

Your blatant disregard for each others safety and the law left me speechless.

Apart from that, people on and off the Hub put in hard work to create Cyclist safety awareness as cars, taxis and buses are taking us out.

Well, according the to public after seeing you, it's our own fault.

Get me?

Oh, and close to Sterkfontein on your return trip you shouted "Hey Bud!", sorry but that indicates you think we are familiar and friends; we are not. You're an idiot, and you give cyclists a bad name. All three of you. I'm not your bud.

Rant off.

Motorists are idiots. Not some of them, every single one of them.

Everyday I go to work and back on two wheels, and the number of motorists I see texting (or doing something on their fkn phones) instead of being aware of the tonnes of steel they are operating, skipping stop signs, red lights, failing to obey the speed limit, is well, pretty much all of them.

Hey, OP, arseholes are arseholes.

We as cyclists have a much bigger target than each other.

Don't get me wrong, stupid is as stupid does, but really? Two guys called you "bud" and the rest of your post is real thin, why bother?

Did you take the time to talk to your brethren about their riding, and the possible impact it has on you and me? I'm guessing not by your comments here.

Why not start at the source, and not some faceless internet rant at the sky?

OP's are idiots. Not all of them, some of them.

They always come to the hub to complain about something they could have done something about in real life!

OP's are the reason for so much aggression on the HUB.

I wish they would rather start a topic stating they helped enlighten fellow cyclists today and possibly saved their lives. Not judge them, think how stupid they are and then spend the rest of their ride thinking about the hub topic they will start.

If I see someone, be it a cyclist not stopping at red lights, riding 3 a breast or a motorist texting on phone I let them know what they doing is dangerous then and there, hopefully they can correct their errors and possibly not end up a statistic.

Rant off bud :P

@Cellar - so go start a thread on cars. Why come here and downplay the seriousness of the matter because you think my post is "thin". Your reply makes me think you could have been one of the 3 riders, and if you were, I succeeded by you reading this.

The fact that motorists can be wrong as well does NOT excuse the behaviour of negligent cyclists.

@Skistar15 - Now I would have like to do exactly that but unfortunately I was too slow to catch up with them again.

I love the look on a motorist's face when you draw level with them and tell them that what they just did was illegal and dangerous. The way they look at you with that completely blank stare makes you realise they really didn't see you.

I guess it's the same for cyclists. I've confronted a couple with their dangerous riding, and they went straight for the "I'll fkn donner you if you dare tell me how to ride" weapon.

Like I said, arseholes are arseholes.

Yes, and your post is making a difference?

{PS, "you succeeded me"? That just makes no sense at all.)

Come here behind a screen and call people idiots is really part of the solution, isn't it?

You go my guy. Awesome.

Next time tell them they're idiots. Oh, they were too fast. I forgot.

Well I would hope each and everyone here would think about their own actions next time they ride their bikes.

Focus has been so much on how terrible cars and taxis are, but meanwhile we ourselves are wrong too.

Learn to read, I said: I succeeded by you reading this.

Ah, my apologies.

I wasn't one of them, I'm too slow. So as of now, you have not succeeded. Or in other words, you have thus far failed.

I reckon, in the spirit of the opening post, we are all idiots.

I reckon, in the spirit of "karma" that if you call someone an idiot, you get yours at some point.

Maybe I just don't understand Karma at all.

I reckon that there has too be a certain amount of idiocy in one to take to cycling...

and I confess that I'm an idiot. Gee, I just felt a rush of relief wash over me. It's out there, I'm and idiot! I love cycling
