You buy or you don't buy - there is no dibs.

The poor word dibs has been prostituted and no longer has the same meaning it would seem.

Dibs, as I understand it, and I'm referring to school days :whistling: .. was when your mate was potentially looking to get rid of something in the future. Might be tomorrow, might be in 6 months time. If you called dibs, then you were entitled to the first bid when the item became available. If you had subsequently changed your mind, or found something else in the meantime, then the next person in line could make a bid.

Now if something is for sale already - There is NO DIBS. You see it and you buy it. If you still trying to make up your mind and someone else buys it then tough - Snooze you lose !

Anyway, just a rant to bring back the meaning of Dibs ..

So I thought I would go to the world wide web in order to resolve this issue once and for all....seems it is not so simple

Like when I bought your carrier. It was a good price and I knew wouldn't be available long. I paid and came straight after work .. granted you live 300m down the road :whistling:

I did lol.

He said sorry for "the late reply" , but never apologised for backing out of a deal where a price had been agreed on. Probably just too bok to admit he didn't have the cash to pay me.

Having bought and sold a couple of items on line (not just on the Hub), I learnt quickly that neither "Dibs" nor "I'll buy it" retains the true meaning of the words. "Onco" is the word - or nearest cash offer (or EFT if it is a large amount).

Too many empty promises broke the words "dibbs" and "I'll buy it"...just my humble opinion.
