That descent looks like BMC / Evans can roll down there at pace and so catch solo climbers. If there are no crashes it will have to be a long range breakaway. Roland to try again?

Remember Roland in last years TDF? He is chicken **** of going down hill at high speed so that cancels him out in my books. I Think Julian Should and hopefully he will have a go.

This tour is becoming somewhat or a snore fest with another boring stage coming up today I fear.

Too hilly for the sprinters but not steep enough for GC contenders, perfect for a breakaway.

Has not been the greatest spectacle.

So the general consensus is one of disappointment at this years Giro, with a lot of "B" teams racing and bad road and weather conditions in the first week in Italy.

So how would you suggest the Giro combat this next year?

Bring the Giro earlier in the calendar so that there is more recovery time for the TDF in the hope to bring out the big guns, even though that might make for snowy conditions?

Get better tv reception out from the race as this is bad for a high profile race IMHO

Nuts, lost one of my guys.... thanks for all the points Bling, you kept me afloat in that first week.

Cadel to attack, attack, attack over that last lump today screaming "I am the new Phinney, anything you can do... apart from that hipster haircut obviously. Suck it Yank.", takes the stage on a blistering solo effort leaving the young and talented in his wake, a massive lead and settles back for another 10 or so stages of the worlds weirdest non-smile and lady voice interviews!

it's the giro, it's not boring, it's the grand tours slightly deranged ginger brother. In fluro.

Edit: it does need a bit of some panache this week though to really fire it up!

The problem is not with the route although the start in Ireland didn't really do it for me. The problem is that the top riders are having a jolly over at the TOC instead of competing in the second biggest race in world cycling.

I'm not sure what the solution is but there must be a way to get the top riders competing in the grand tours.

My suggestion would be to start with how much recovery time is needed, then try and arrange the dates to facilitate this. Best way to get them to compete is of course to massively increase the prize money and make the teams less reliant on sponsorship money. Similar thing happened in football when clubs started sharing TV money.
