Hi Thinking of doing the Babbas Lodge race on 18 May.

Can not find much route info, Howeer see that times looks quite fast.

Anybody with some info about these events. Would like to do this as my first real MTB race.

Its flat, fast and sandy. Not much more to it. Stay on the track to avoid the 'kameeldorings' and it should be fine.

We used to do Babbas as a fitness test race, good fun, but don't expect anything majestic.

Wife and I did it in March as our first race. Managed the 63km (2 loops around the farm) quite comfortably as it is very flat. 1 or 2 climbs at the end but not big at all.

Yes, its flat (+-120m of total ascent for the 35km) and has sandy patches. Being so flat and fast (can average around 21km/h, and faster), just be wary of the sand in corners when you come down . There has been a few injuries in the past (one guy broke his colar bone/shoulder in January I think it was)

It is a good race to do as your first. The 60km is a 2 lap race.

Did the 60km. It was a pretty flat, bushveld race. Two loops of a well marked course. Waterpoints can be significantly improved by maybe having energy drinks instead of just water. By the time I finished, food and drinks had run out. Overall it was ok....

Did Babbas again and really enjoyed the new route .Lots of fast flowing single tract and enough room if you want to race it

You were flying! I was riding with the missus. Will definitely be back. The new bits are great.

See you at the monster

The new route is really great.

Nice fast singletrack usual fast open roads, two water crossings, some swampland and some technicall hills.

Well done to Andre and the team!
