Didn't see this topic. I had a Tacx IMagic and now a powerbeam pro. Just had another no hassle session on the powerbeam with the iPad app this morning. No comparison in ride feel and quality, powerbeam for the win.

Got the BTL version about 10 days ago....I cannot rave enough about this product...the software(ipad version) and service(Dave from cyclops) enough.

Great product...great software...great service, magic trifecta.

Mine was up and running within 20min...and did my first custom workout in my zones...sync'd to the cloud seamlessly...No locking you in ito data or software.

PS showtime who are you on virtual trainer online...will maatjies maak

Oh and for guys that are in the market for high end trainers...here was why the powerbeam won.

Local support has to be no1...the boys from cyclops woodmead are on the ball, all use their own product, so any tech difficulties are a walk in the park for them

Overall build quality is better imo...it might be subjective, but the powerbeam just looks stronger and will last longer.

Cyclops doesn't lock you into any third party analysis app...you can sync your workout files to any platform seamlessly...this is a biggie for me.

It just works...ie its less buggy. You not constantly struggling with dropped connections, peripherals or buggy software..They test their software before releasing it...both tablet and pc versions are polished.

They have a big community that contributes ito routes and online races in the VR environment.

So with that being said...it was a no brainer ito which trainer brand...the last question was just which model. Ant + or Bluetooth. No initially I thought ant+...kind of a now brainer, but after long hours of research and chats with the cycleops team, my needs were more inline with the Bluetooth version..

Can't agree more with your user experience. My profile is summomtber, haven't been very active yet but entered Karoo2Coast this week and the training starts now.

got my Ant+ Pro Beam a few days ago. have not use it as yet.

but again as everyone else said.

ease of use

not being tied down to software

not needing a mega pc

and the awesome back from Dave and company ( been dealing with them for over 5years and just great )

i would like to get more info on the Virtual Trainer from a users point ( maybe one of you hubbers can assist)

Only been using it for a short while(Ipad version)...but shoot away with questions.

Here is why I dig it....

Create ergo workouts at specific Watts on ipad is a breeze...very intuitive interface and data

Seamless integration into the cloud(whatever your flavour...virtual training suite, strava, trainingpeaks, mapmyride etc etc)

No booting up or cables...everything just talks to each other.

VR is polished in google earth with no extra license this or license that....

And here is the magic sauce which other training suites don't have.....

Because all VR trainers use slope and GPS positioning to manipulate the ergo trainer's resistance, bad GPS data can really screw up your VR ride...like going from a 0% slope to 34% in an instant...The Virtual training suite smooths any bad data out when you create a VR route somewhere in the world....so that you still climb the same amount but doesnt give the "riding giant steps" issue...DCRainmaker did a whole writeup on this...awesome stuff

Rouxtjie out of interest - why not the kickr?

if i may.

i did this research. its about 5k more and bigger. not a huge amount of difference between the two for 5k

That....

thanks madone

WRT pricing the local kickr prices arent inline with international kickr prices...whereas the cyclops units are.

Can you use a 142 x 12 on the Cyclops - how does that attach?
