I use to be the one that defends cyclist all the way .. doesn't matter who's fault it was… After Burry's death our clubs decided we will stop at lights etc. And we have … but sadly i hardly see anybody even slowing down anymore.. i now see what the opposition is telling me and sadly my eyes are opening to the fact that most of us skip lights and ride like hooligans.

I will never forget our dear friend Burry.. and i hoped this would get us to stop at these places and obey the law but as anything else it was short lived. Thanks for the guys that still stop at lights ...

I went to visit his mom this past weekend, and its sad to see those people like her making such awesome efforts to educate people on road safety only for arrogant people to still skip red lights because they feel the law does not apply to them.

It is not a high horse thing, or a keyboard warrior thing, some people are actually putting in real world efforts to make cycling safer for everybody. If anything we can at least do our bit too by stopping at red lights, riding single file or using lights, all the usual stuff that comes up when chatting about cycling safety.

PSS. Chasing cars that have a beautiful lady driver is AWESOME interval training :whistling:

Until you manage to catch them stopped at the next light, and you're too busy spitting out bits of lung to do much more than barely prevent yourself from falling over in front of them.

Nothing to do with red lights, but when we were in varsity, my team mates and I used to carefully plan a recovery ride that took in a couple of girl's high schools just as school was letting out...

CLEARLY THAT ONE IS FOR ME, MY EXPLANATION IS SIMPLE, THERE IS NOT ONE CYCLIST WHO HAS NOT JUMPED A RED EVER

YES IT IS GOOD TO TRY EDUCATING THE PEOPLE BUT ALL CYCLIST HAVE AT ONE OR OTHER STAGE PULLED A SKIP,,,,,,,,,,,,yet they will chirp

good on you for trying i do try but i do skip also :whistling:

run, run, hide all the MEN on their high horses will come for you :whistling:

Is running reds a new type of training speak, like fartlek or interval and when did cycle lab start a running section?

Please show me the cyclist who never ever skipped a red... the most important thing to take into consideration when you do skip is make sure NO ONE'S life is in danger.......and I am not promoting skipping.

It happens, cyclists that stop at red lights and wait for green before they cross

Hmm choose one:

I used to jump red lights (only when safe) until I started reading all the hub threads, now I'm to scared of getting my head bit off so now only jump when not a soul in sight. I know it's still wrong but what to do at 5am and the light is pressure pad activated. What are we supposed to do in this case?

Reading these threads has made me much more aware of my actions and those around me.

You are under analysing what Chukky said. It's not like he is gonna accelerate to hit the oke. Obviously he'll try to stop. But he won't lose sleep if the guy didn't pbey the rules and he did.

I hit a pedestrian a few years back - TOTALLY his fault, as he just ran into the road without looking.

I still have nightmares about it and still wonder what I could have done to avoid it.

Its cool acting all tough and hard-@rsed until it happens to you, and you see that person lying in the road bleeding to death.

I was obeying the road rules, he wasn't - and I lost a LOT of sleep.

Exactly the point the guys were making, you are suffering because someone else broke the rules. You do not deserve to have nightmares.

I bet from what you have experienced you will think twice before jumping a red light?

Have no idea, as there are no pressure pads at any traffic light on SA roads...

Read my post. The first person I killed left me largely un-changed.

Think I am going to GoPro all my road rides and post pics of those who jump lights here. Will get flamed, but maybe it will make people think twice. So if you ride on Hendrik Potgieter or do Sat morning Lab rides.... beware

YOU BEWARE LOOK OUT FOR US MOONING YOU :whistling: :whistling:

I rode with those peaceforce okes a while back. One guy had the sickest Pinarello with Campag EPS. When we stopped for a coke, he let me touch it.
