I hear you, but ultimately what is comes down to, these guys sit here claiming they want 80 odd k's of real heavy technical riding.

Two issues at hand here.

Where are they gonna string 80 k's together anywhere in this country, also doing so without bottlenecks and congestion.

Secondly, they don't realise how utterly f'ed they will be if they had to ride 80 k's of heavy technical stuff.

OH PLEASE MR EARPIE MR KNOW IT ALL DO YOU KNOW HOW TECHNICAL THE SPRUIT IS,????? RIDE IT TWICE,,,please whtevaaaaa

I was on there yesterday, not my idea of fun.

Seems that you have to give people right of way because they feel "it's my right"

It's full of piss and $h1tty water and even though it was relatively quiet yesterday, it was over congested.

80kms of tech? Not sure anyone would really want that. Shorter and more interesting for me but then you run into a laps / slower riders problems / finding terrain / bottlenecks. Races are never going to give you that free ride / trail experience. They are there for a reason and have limitations.

Mind set of organisers seems to be you have to pound it out for a good 80kms on farm roads, jeep tracks and fire trails else you're not getting value for money. I guess its a lowest common denominator angle as well. 80% of riders at 'races' aren't going to come back to something that they can't handle, stack or challenges too hard so it come back to long distances on easy terrain so endurance is the key with a bit of single track or tech stuff to sweat about and talk story at the end. Market driven, you need numbers in the door to be sustainable and turn a profit.

The one and only race I rate as the true equaliser.

This race has a bit of everything and even the guys who want technical only will have respect for that district road.

Anyone who comes in at under 8 hours on that event is tough as nails, anyone who finishes that event is a legend.
