LeTurbo Posted May 9, 2014 Share Is cycling difficult? I obviously coast to much. I like coasting. In fact, I do coasting more than cycling. Joe Low

SimpleDom Posted May 9, 2014 Share You should see the nonsense the guys give me in school...saying things like:cycling is so easy, how did you fall, over a little stick in the path?.Or do you know that there's path for a reasonor when you telll then you got selected to represent your province, theyre like " so you got EP for MTB" and then start laughing. But every time I say come and do a race with me they all like ya ya wadada and then they keep quite for a while. FTW Â Ignore the ignorant.... They too shall realise what they have missed one day..... Nicholas F
SwissVan Posted May 9, 2014 Share Motocross.... Ask anyone who has raced 2 or even 3 40 minute moto's in one day how tough that can be Most sport if u give it your all is hard  Joffter
Joffter Posted May 9, 2014 Share Anyone ever considered how tough and physically demanding Motocross is at a Professional level ?Riders like Ryan Villopoto, Ken Roczen, Ryan Dungey, Eli Tomac to name a few, would put most to shame in almost any form of fitness, including cycling. Trained by Aldon Baker, and Eli Tomac trained by his father, former World Champion mountain biker. These are some of the absolute fittest and gnarliest athletes in all professional sport without a doubt. Anyone want to challenge this, just google the worlds most physically demanding sports. Lucky Luke. Posted May 9, 2014 Share Nadal ran 1,2 km in his last match and they have breaks in between. We dont use the word "play" before our sport name...we dont play tennis or rugby, we cycle.  Many people dont realise how tough cycling really is. By way of contrast, I submit to you the example of one Pieter Calitz - ex-tennis pro, now coaching for a living. Pete cycles as a secondary sport, drinks a lot of beer, but can still out climb pretty much everybody in Cat 2, and keep up with the elite bunch as well when necessary. This year he gave half ironman a bash, just for a hoot, having never done any competitive swimming and just one half marathon and just missed the podium with 4th in his age group, 58th overall in an international field of about 2500. scotty Posted May 9, 2014 Share I'd take 3 hours hard cycling any day over 3 hours hard soccer, rugby etc. Never been stretchered off with exhaustion from cycling but have from a rugby game, not injury but collapsed from exhaustion.
Wyatt Earp Posted May 9, 2014 Share I will say this, only to pee some peeps off.Cycling is relatively doable and almost easy for most. Though Cyclists are guys like these. 24 hour winners . http://blogs.bicycling.com/blogs/mbword/files/2009/08/3858832179_9305a73356.jpg Guys with huge balls of steel. http://images.supersport.com/2012/Greg-Minnaar-Inaction-100905R300.jpg And this man who stole all our hearts.  http://images.spox.com/userfiles/T/j/M/o/J/rVCAeLOrm9fh5TY7CLlbT1.jpg http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ryIQQUBAlTk/ThuQOz40BhI/AAAAAAAAAH0/L7zxKfR5qaE/s1600/16.jpg Edited May 9, 2014 by Wyatt Earp
Stevief Posted May 9, 2014 Share Riding at wine 2 whales a few years back i was chatting to Corne Krige whilst kakking off on a climb. I asked him (is MTB tougher than rugby? His answer. As hard as MTB is you can still get up and cycle the next day, when you have a tough rugby match you will not be able to play again the next day." Wez-O Posted May 9, 2014 Share What about golf? That 19th hole will give you a big big headache the next morning if played to the full potential. scotty

TALUS Posted May 9, 2014 Share I think it is all about the intensity you participate at. Corne played rugby at max level. He cycles at a very average level. I have run some hard 10km races (sub 36m at atitude) but that absolute burn when you are about to be dropped by the bunch only 100m from the top still hurts more. Grappling sport much be the hardest especially since you REALLY get F.....up if you fade. Finally: "it does not get easier - you just go faster" (this applies to most sport)
