IDT workouts

Rouxtjie... I'll be sending you a PM as well if you don't mind sharing. Winter is a bit of a bummer going out so the IDT seem to be used more often now. A variety in training can never hurt.

Its training program dude...either power or hr based.

Eish wena, last night did a 30 minute ride, 20 of which was a high tempo power ride, keeping the cadence at 100 no matter what, big chain in front and 17 at the back, eina eina eina, white hot pain and bleeding through the eyes, thought I was going to go blind.

Now that was training ... IDT is a very useful tool to get very strong, fit and hard@ssed without the dangers and long hours of road riding.

Liked it a lot.

Tonight is easy peasy ... only 90 cadence on easy gears.

I've just had a look at trainerroad. It looks great. Is the idea that the app simply replaces the Cycleops app? I also see that it doesn't run on Android.

Yes. It runs off your laptop / computer (iOS beta version to be released soon). Its a brilliant app - been using it since Jan

That trainerraod looks amazing. I am going to give it a try.

You wont be sorry. And its a monthly subscription so if you dont enjoy it its only $10 gone. And I think they will actually refund you the first month if you dont like it

Do you need connectivity for the app? Going to Kgalagadi for 2 weeks and I was going to take my IDT with me to keep fitness up. Also not keen on MTB on my own with lions and elephant.

No you dont. Once you've downloaded the app to your laptop you just need the ANT+ stick. All the workouts will be downloaded to your computer so you can do them and then once you get back home connect and update to the website

Couldn't find the app for trainerroad, so downloaded fittrip instead.

Nice video rides (rockies, TdF), linked to HR, and looks like I only need connectivity to download video rides. Once it's on the iPad it's on. Monthly subs of $6. I'll give it a try and let you know.

Its not an app on the appstore....you download it from trainerroad.com

Never tried fitrip....ultimately HR isnt as good a metric to use when training as power is but interested to hear what its like

Its a 45 min workout video I downloaded from the 'net, nice as you 'ride' along with them and keeps it interesting a bit. Has nice music and graphics as you can see.

Looks ideal   - is it possible to share general multimedia info on the hardware platform etc you are using?

I've been IDT'ing for 10 years via PC or DVD&TV, though would prefer a basic, simple, less complex solution.

Just play it on a mobile phone

Hi guys

First off rouxtjie will be PMing you for that program :)

I'm new to the IDT world, 2 months young but really enjoy it and can't help but get more technical with all the info...

I run the cycleops CVT app with a ant+ dongle on my iPad, and use the AirPlay mirror to watch on the big screen.

It's got some great courses around the world, incl streaming video and the ability to race virtual partners (or even actual people - haven't tried that yet though)

Sufferfest is a new addiction, the workouts are prebuilt and sync to the video files - but Christ the violator lives upto it's name!

It's £4.49 a month.

The app is the best I've seen, but to be honest, am also going to give trainer road a whirl.

Oh yeah, and strava segments is interesting, but at £20 it's overkill, because most of the cycling programs let you ride "real" roads anyway...

Wish I'd known that before I bought it :(
