I tried fitting a tubless tyre myself but just cant seam to seal the tyre when pumping it up air keeps leaking out watched many you tube videos still cant get it right, how do you guys get it right?

Big volume air like a compressor will do the trick or you can build up a couple of layers of rimtape to get a snugger fit ito tyre and bead.

Take it to the garage, remove the valve and use their pump, works every time for me.

Lekkers...don't use a bomb, no matter how tempted you are....doesn't react well with sealant. Rather take to a garage/compressor or make a snugger fit.

Compressor is one of the finest investments you can make. There isn't a tyre I can't seat. Even managed a set of CX and mtb semi tubeless.

Also good for car tyres, cleaning swarf/dust/filings, floating table tennis balls on and making potato cannons.

Sidebar comment - Sales people will sell the customer what he/she is asking for. I was in Linden cycles (and I serious rate these guys) and this one lady who knew nothing about cycling was telling the sales man what bike her son must get. The salesguy tried this way and that way to ascertain needs/goals/etc but the tannie had her mind made up. Kid got a bike - no idea if he is going to enjoy it or not..but mom was very proud that all her totally invalid and ignorant requirements were met. Sales guy had a sale. win win?

Noobs are ignorant. They should do their homework upfront and not complain afterwards about what they were sold. You do your homework when buying a car or a house yes? Why not a bike or a tyre?

I agree - also getting tired of people allowing themselves to buy something and then afterwards not happy about their purchase. Poor service and faulty goods aside.

Maybe there should be a sister website for TheHub... www.theRantsa

Ill go there Friday afternoons for a laugh

He didn't complain about the tyre , he went there knowing what he wanted after shopping around and was told by CL that they would do the same tyre at the same price and same installation cost. And then added other costs after the quoted price for labour and slime. I think he has a fair complaint here? Or maybe I'm ignorant.

IF !! 90% of the the time it's easy but every so often you get one that takes you more than 6 beers to seat properly .

Nope unfair....he got a quote for the tyre not to fit / and convert(sealant / tape / maybe even a valve....who knows, but this part he left conveniently out). If he had a problem with that he should have done it himself.

Or lets ask mr OP this....would you have been ok if cyclelab fitted your tyre over the rim and left it like that, its fitted after all....all flat like?. NO you wouldn't have...but not prepared / don't have the know how to do it yourself, yet you think they should throw this in. Do you know how much sealant and rim tape cost? How much does it cost the lab while a tech converts your wheel whilst he could have been busy on other paying customers bikes?

He has champagne taste on a beer budget...think cyclelab can thank their lucky stars he won't be going there again....I wouldnt want him as a customer.

Doc , I spent about 2 hrs on internet and googled several reports on mtb tyres (actually that's why I agreed o the Geax as I had seen great reports on it), got advice from 2 Sani2c mates , spoke to salesman at Kyalami cycle , Solomans and cycle lab , I never prompted for any specific tyre , I explained how where and how much I rode I asked what he suggested and then asked why they suggest that tyre , honestly the salesmen couldn't tell me, some just said , "its what I ride with" (other than the fact in almost all cases so not a CL thing that they started with a R800 tyre..) I think that qualifies as doing some research  ... having said that I expect in a cycle shop of any decent nature that the salesman can give a reasonable opinion as to what a components benefits are .... so much for a friendly heads up on poor service and extra charges ... it appears as many of the quick assumptions and attacks on a "noob" or a rant are paid by bike shops to defend their poor deliverable.. if you happy or had a pleasant experience I'm glad for you stick with what works ;)

He he he - did Chuckky tell you about our learning curve on the Citec/XKing seating? An hour of swearing solved by one extra wrap of tape.

Faaaaaark.

I wonder if Admin could establish how many one-poster members exist, and of those how many are rant related.

See Skipperw's post above. It takes as much time to enage the offending party in an email, as it does to gripe about it here, and the results are tangible. It's best to exhaust all other avenues before hitting the rant button.

thank you, this was the point I was trying to make. exhaust all avenues before coming here and trowing your toys.

I flat out refuse to work on Geax tyres. If I get a wheel with them on I cut them off with sidecutters.

Geax? Gggggggptoooey.
