Currently the best solution is from KTM for a new part to be imported at an unpleasant amount, and a guy out in Greece that does 640 parts at a price not far off the KTM pricing.

It also seems there are many 640 owners looking for the same part.

What does a part like that cost as a matter of interest?

KTM were talking around the 6.5-7K mark for a new part.

Used locally ... you first need to find one, and pending the condition I would say 1K to around 2.5K.

Greek Used option comes in at around the 5.5K ex. VAT and import duties, but inc. shipping on a good one.

Had a quick look on EBay.co.uk. These things are expensive. Strangely.

but if you need something from here you can post it to my house and get a courier to collect it from me. Will be cheaper as no import duties and the like. ( I think) it’s an option so use it if needed.

That is honestly a phenomenal offer, thank you!

LOL ... took a look and this used one is more than double the price of a new one from KTM SA....might be good business buying a few new ones here, and sending it up to you to sell at GBP.

This weekend our club did a memorial ride, with the CT Crew meeting up with the Hermanus Crew and camping at Dooringlaagte just ouside Montagu.

What an awesome loop on the bike, there can be no better way to experience the landscape, other than maybe on a bicycle.

Camp site, the second time I have camped there with the club, is always in great condition and very well priced.

A lot in a short post, great ride, great camping and great company.

Seems the gaskets are arriving today.

I still need the flywheel first though to get her rolling.

Via one of the riders in our club, managed to track down a LC4 rider who with his friend previously purchased a "spares bike" where the main bearing seized and they would be keeping this bike for spares for both their 640 LC4's. He would have a chat to his friend and see if he is ok selling the flywheel.

First really positive lead so far, other than buying new from KTM.

Two other leads are more like little smoke trails.

1. spares co. are waiting for a 640 that they purchased/interested in purchasing from a deceased estate
2. a guy selling a non running 640 with a spare 640 (ex. wheels and suspension) just sold it all to a guy who will be collecting over the weekend. Asked him to please let the buyer know I am keen on the flywheel from bike no. 2 if he does not need it, and maybe some other parts too.

Last week I did a trip up to the Roggeveld via Seweweekspoort and Moordenaars Karoo. We had the little 690 on the X Ramp, unloading at Seweweeks and then a stunning +/- 250 ks to Sutherland. The following day was a 260 km route down into Tankwa via the Ouberg Pass. This was a work up, very steep and more than a few dry mouth moments over the rocks. The Tankwa park is a stunning blast over tremendous sand roads in an unbelievable wide open landscape. We climbed back up to the Roggeveld via the Ganaga Pass, an absolutely beautiful ride/ drive with sweeping bends, largely smooth dirt and stunning views. Prior to Middelpos the thunderstorms struck and I arrived back in Sutherland cold and soaked but still on the bike and not carrying it on the bakkie. IMG_1922.jpeg.db6f8ea136f7789f3a594e6667f618be.jpegIMG_1921.jpeg.1b1e1138127226bc698c876b9cc6e57b.jpegIMG_1920.jpeg.c9be04bda25e0066725949e71b3e63d9.jpegIMG_1919.jpeg.6c753b32806670a1836da0d1a3084e51.jpegIMG_1918.jpeg.be13a79a2c22a77bba66d84ce3868377.jpeg
