I'm tempted to go with the red frame too - it's not to everybody's taste but this one is for me, not for the purists out there who frown because someone has used the wrong colour green for the olive zink plating!

I'm just torn between a black or a silver engine......

Silver is nice because you can see the details of the engine, whereas with the black everything just blends together.  For me, that's the cool thing about old/naked bikes is you can see all the working bits...

But what about silver with a black head and clutch cover?

(And a vote for the red frame from me...)

Just as a matter of interest - does anyone here know someone in Port Alfred who would be willing to collect a fuel tank for me - I've found one at a guy, but he's a typical Surfer dude and is being a bit non-committal - even offered to pay him up front and then send a courier to collect but he's one his own mission a bit....

It would be black for me, it accentuates the red better and vice versa.

Nice!  Is that all you need?

That is all I needed ... actually a little more.

The Stator cover I got back from Wynand had the sight glass closed up.
This stator may also be in better condition.

I am freeeeeeaaaaking ammppeed.

Parts dropped off this morning.

News is that I can expect the bike back in two weeks, but probably sooner.

He has a couple of bikes in, and (I do understand this) my bike has gone to the back of the line as we had no time line as to when to expect to find a flywheel.

See he also cleaned out and media blasted the starter casing inside, looks like new.

Mentioned that the bike has been standing for a very long time now, and I may need to ask him to clean or service the carb. He responded that he has already stripped it down and cleaned it out. What a legend.

Front indicators have been fit, rear to still be done.

I brought the 690 to Joburg on the X Ramp when recently up there. Had the opportunity to ride farm roads, trails and railway service roads out to the east of Josie. Was guided by my brother on his Katoom 250 Six Days……that thing is awesome. The 690 suddenly felt too big! Was a splendid day out.IMG_1999.jpeg.dfc666494623f29a92b5fd65fc25d7ab.jpegIMG_2001.jpeg.cc8a11a3321b7aafd4e9493b34ba2f25.jpeg
